Daryl grabbed his crossbow, and stalked off. His side was hurting him, but at the moment he couldn't care less. He looked around to make sure no one saw where he was going. He needed to be alone. Daryl wasn't good at expressing himself. Hell, at the moment he didn't even know how he felt.
The emotions hit him like a wall, his eyes stung with tears. Shaking his head in anger he walked along the edge of the forest. He wanted to scream out in frustration. How could she of all people stumble back into his life. She had once been his world, now he didn't want anything to do with her.
But yet he wanted her.
Daryl let out a groan, god how he missed her. All those years he waited for her to come back. It made him feel so pathetic, he let himself get so vulnerable. Over a damn girl, like he was some lovesick puppy.
Emma gave him a new light to his dark life, there's wasn't a better way to put it. She fixed him. He wasn't about to run back to her though. Daryl went through hell looking for her, and then waiting. For days, to weeks, then that turned to years. So he finally let it go. But he'd be lying to himself if he said he didn't still feel something for her.
Torn, that's exactly how he felt.
Pulling at his hair, he sighed angrily. Now he'd have to deal with her around camp. Seeing her everyday, that'd kill him. He was a grown man for gods sake, he shouldn't be so caught up on some girl. This wasn't highschool anymore.
He sat in the grass, emotionally exhausted.
Emma sat on her cot in her tent, speechless. Tears were blurring her vision as she looked at Colton, tucked away in her arms. He wasn't sure what was going on yet. She wasn't sure if she should tell him. Daryl, stormed off, how would he handle it. Emma wrapped her hands around her son, she rubbed his back. Grateful for such an understanding boy.
"Mom?" Colton asked quietly. Emma pulled away a bit to look into his crisp blue eyes. He looked worried sick for her, and that killed Emma. How could she even begin to explain?
"I'm sorry sweetie" she spoke softly, a faint smile on her lips.
"What happened back there?" he asked almost skittishly. Emma shook her head, she can't tell him yet. She has to talk to Daryl first, she wouldn't risk breaking Colton's heart like that.
"Its a long story, for another time alright," she said looking at him and taking his hands. Colton simply nodded, he didn't want to push the matter further if it clearly made his mother upset.
They sat there together, Emma slowly rubbing his back soothingly. She looked towards the outside of their tent, what would she say to Daryl? Would he even listen? She understood why he'd be upset, but with Colton, how long could she put it off?
The man she deeply fell for, and left behind, might hate her. Daryl had a thing for having a temper, and holding grudges. She smiled faintly at the past outbursts he's had when they were younger.
Daryl Dixon, her highschool sweetheart, was now present in her life once again.
Colton drifted to sleep, Emma gently laid him down in her cot. She exited the tent, needing fresh air to help clear her mind. Across camp Lori saw her standing outside her tent. She dropped the shirt she was folding, and walked over silently. No one was quite sure what was going on still. Clearly Emma had been upset, and Lori's heart went out to the new woman in camp.
"You doing okay?" Lori asked hesitantly.
Emma looked over at her, completely lost. She shook her head, and took a deep breath.
Lori smiled sadly, "Would you like to talk about it?"
Emma nodded a bit, and turned to walk towards a log by some bushes on the edge of camp. She sat silently for awhile, and Lori patiently waited. Not wanting to push the woman.
