Welcome back, ladies and gentlemen, to the pain train. We are currently in a very bad spot. What kind of bad spot, you wonder? I think showing off the team would explain it more than words ever could. Behold.
Were you expecting more? No, this is no dream, and certainly no hoax. We have two Pokemon left and the only backup we have in the PC is a heavily underleveled Caterpie. Every other Pokemon I had last episode died, either because of Fire moves or a Reshiram with Discharge. Because of this, I have to completely change my original plan. We need an encounter, otherwise I don't fancy my chances very much.
Now, let me explain my thought process real quick. In order to progress beyond Route 4, we need to not only do a Team Plasma battle, but also all of Burgh's gym, a battle with Bianca, and then Cheren attacks us at Route 4 too. We have to do all of that with a Haxorus and a Blastoise. Sure, the two of them compliment each other's weaknesses really well, but I'd rather be safe than have to rely on just a Butterfree to get to Desert Resort if these two die.
Here's my game plan. We're going to rush Route 4, get an encounter, pray to Arceus it's good, then go grab the items and then grind up our new encounter through all the Battle Company trainers and optional fights in the area. Before we can do that, we need to cross Skyarrow Bridge to even reach Castelia. No, this isn't a bad thing, but it's a real highlight moment in the playthrough, especially back when this game first released. Keep in mind that Black and White came out close to the end of the lifespan of the DS, so it was sort of a big deal. Sort of. Think of that what you will.
After the bridge, we have arrived in Unova's biggest city, Castelia City. If events were a thing I could do, we could go to...that one island Victini can be caught at, the Zorua event is also here. There's the Casteliacones, a boat you can access in postgame, an office building with a bunch of trainers, and in Black 2 and White 2, you get the bike here. For now, we're going to dash on ahead to Route 4.
(On the way, I went and got the Flash TM, which was Extremespeed. Nobody can learn it.)
Welcome to Route 4, where a constant sandstorm is blowing. This is it, folks. The moment of truth that decides if we're running this episode with two Pokemon or three. Cross your fingers, toes, and other body parts, let's see what we've got.
