Dr Wells glanced between Barry and Ronnie, as the two young men limped from the car park behind the building. Barry wiped his chin and the corner of his mouth, which, before wiped somewhat clean, had blood dribbling out from between his lips. Ronnie was sporting a few fresh bruises on his face, and under his clothing would be worse. Caitlin now had an excuse to look at his body after so long.
Barry groaned softly, limping into one of the room on an upper floor. He didn't want Caitlin and Cisco to see him like that. That, and he didn't want to be in the same room as Ronnie, who had even burnt his skin several times. Barry was lucky that when he changed, his suit wasn't stuck to his flesh.
The room he sat in resembled the forensics lab Barry spent a lot of time in at work, and then the nightmare of the night he had missed the particle accelerator explosion, when he had been struck by the bolt of lightning. It had forced his being to be pulled into a deep coma for nine months; to which he awoke blind. Now he could see, and everything reminded him of the life he had before; back when everything was a little more simple.
A laugh sounded in his head, a child laughing, that echoed loudly. Barry's eyes water as he allowed his eyes to close, tears spilling out from the closed corners quickly. His mum and dad were in a park, Joe was talking with them at a park bench. Younger Barry laughed at the younger Iris, when the two were chasing each other around the park. Barry pulled Iris by the wrist over to the swing set, sitting in one swing while Iris sat in the other; they had a contest to see who would swing the highest, which Barry had won.
"Who cares," Iris started as she sat cross legged in front of Barry, slowly picking at blades of grass and tying them together. "I'm better than you at a lot of things." Barry's face screwed up.
"I'm smarter than you," Iris didn't seem phased by the statement. She just smiled at her friend as Joe called out her name; slowly Iris stood up, with Barry quickly following suit. The two children went to their respective parents, Barry being hugged tightly by his mum as Iris was carried on her dad's back as he walked off.
Times with Iris were some of the best with Barry, but they always seemed to turn sour at school. Kids tended to pick on him, Iris not so much because she could defend herself and other children knew that. Not to mention her dad was a cop, the children tended to stay away from her.
It was one of that last nights Barry spent with his parents. They are dinner together, his father and mother stating by his bed until his eyelids closed, and Barry's breathing came out slow and steady. Nora always wanted those moments to last.
The next night, she had been shock to see Barry pouting, one of his eyes slightly discoloured as he looked down to the floor. Barry couldn't bare to see the upset look his mother had formed on her face. She had tried to treat the wound when Barry was sleepy, hearing the story that a bully from school had punched his eye for no reason. The usual routine then happened, Barry wanted an excuse for his mother to stay with the light on, the glass of water he 'needed' was brought to the beside table by his father. Barry surprised both of them, requesting that his light could be shut off before he would be sleeping.
Nora's eyes were the one thing Barry and his father remebered best about her. The striking electric blue was just like Barry's, like water or electricity were staring back at you. Thoses eyes were spilling over with tears when she screamed out for Barry to get out of the living room. Yellow and Red surrounded her, but when Barry had been outside the next moment, there was only a yellow streak with him. Soon, both lightning streaks were gone, the living room, and any adjacent rooms, were a complete mess. In the centre of the floor lay Nora Allen, her skin ghost white, and her eyes that were once so shiney and bright, now dull and clouded.
Barry wiped his face, hastily wiping away the tears that formed. He never tried to think about that night in detail, the sickening sight of his beautiful mother dead, the red streak of lightning being the reason his father, innocent and filled with love for Barry and Nora even after her death, was unjustly held inside Iron Heights prison.
Barry made the idea to see his father after his work shift tomorrow. He would be back with Joe, and joining Iris's boyfriend, Eddie, too. What would he say to his father? 'I was blind for several months after waking from a coma, now I have super speed which I use to stop criminals and I call myself the Flash?' No, that wouldn't do at all.
A.N. Oh my God, I am so sorry I haven't been writing at all lately. There's been so much drama in my personal life lately, on top of Uni work (which I'll be done with this course in a couple of months) it's just been too stressful. I know this ended abutly, but I'm just thinking of what to do next, and I need lots of ideas because I knew what I was going to do with this chapter when I started and now I've blanked, so give me suggestions. And I will warn you all that it may be a while before the next chapter due to Uni and this personal stuff, but I'll try to get it done sooner. Love all of you and thank you for being so patient with me.
