Green

Barry saw a green light emanate behind his closed eyes, the glow encapsulating his dream. His dream self smiled, assuming the green came from Oliver using a light, something logical. But what Barry saw wasn't logical. There, just behind the green light, was a figure that had a strange, long purple face; and that person - the creature, as it walked closer to him- was close now. Never before had a dream made Barry uncomfortable like he was, his physical body tensed up.

The alien passed right through Barry, his dream persona touching his chest and feeling nothing in astonishment. The alien had walked through Barry, to see a stranger - a human stranger- standing in front of a white light. The silhouette held their hands out in front of them, a defensive and yet defiant stance. Barry only noticed something float to the stranger, a small object where the light was illuminating from.

Sweat plastered Barry's hair to his forehead, small breathes escaping through his lips, feeling that not enough air was filling his lungs. There was no reason why Barry would wake up in such a state, he had no idea what the dream was about, nor why he would awake in an almost panicked way. The alien was what had worried him, and that was innocent to what his mind would cook up with he was four years old.

Sleep eluded Barry for the rest of the night, what was left of it, and Barry avoided it to get something done. Oliver had been nice enough to text, confessing he couldn't sleep. The two, somehow, had the same dream, and spent the time they had with no distractions discussing it like teenagers would. The on screen words, singular letters, and emoticons were the last bit of contact with The Arrow Barry had had since the letter two days before. He deduced that Oliver hadn't been in town, but got someone else to deliver it. Maybe Roy Harper or Ray Palmer, whom Felicity had introduced him to over the phone with Facetime.

'I'll actually be in Central City today, we can talk properly then.' Oliver texted, the message popping up on Barry's screen almost instantaneously. Why the Scarlet Speedster had never ran over to Starling City surprised Oliver, it wasn't too far for Barry, and he wouldn't be there long, anyway. Barry didn't want to face the fact that maybe if he went to Starling City, he might never return to his home.

Barry yawned, his eyes glancing to the time a the top of his phone screen. Almost six in the morning, and the dark sky was finally lighting up with orange from the slowly rising sun. The air was still chilling, the cool nipping at the exposed skin of his face, hands and wrists as Barry moved the bed covers up to his shoulders., and his phone closer to his face. Shuffling was heard downstairs, no doubt Joe was getting ready for work, or heading out the door for a head start.

'I'll meet you over at S.T.A.R. Labs this afternoon. Gotta work on a few cases today.' Being back at work would fill the days, the going back to S.T.A.R. Labs would be better. Oliver agreed to the plan, said his goodbye and Barry slowly got ready, slow even for a normal person. He was almost late to work by the time he was ready. Super speed does come in handy for more than just crime fighting!

His work load was done in a nice pace, his superiors may not have agreed with it, but when did they ever like how a person worked at the CCPD? Barry checked that no one would be noticing he was in his space, not that anyone was there, and speeded down to S.T.A.R. Labs; he hid at the side of the building to let his shoes cool off, his canvas shoes smoking from the friction of speed. Oliver had that tight lipped smile that looked so good on him when Barry turned the corner. The Oliver Queen charm was in full swing now, and Barry knew he wouldn't be cutting it out anytime soon.

Oliver's lips opened, showing teeth at the sight of his friend, the pair heading into the labs to check if any metas were on the loose before they headed to, wherever they were going. Cisco was busying himself with something, his focus on the object was unwavered by the entrance of Barry and Oliver, Caitlin spun in her chair and gave them a smile. Dr Wells had told Barry that there was nothing happening in terms of metas, suggesting that Barry would be called if there were to be a problem.

When Oliver had suggested they walked, Barry assumed they weren't far from their destination; Oliver really used to excuse to have a walk along the streets, the sun lowering into the horizon leaving a few stars specked across the sky, and a blue-purple colour that came after the pinkish tone. Needless to say, the ice cream was well worth the walk. Barry was just glad they both had jackets, and Oliver had a hood over his head, classic!

"What the hell?" A person behind Barry and Oliver, who had been fishing on the pier they sat on, was now standing and looking towards a part of the city that wasn't as cluttered with high rise buildings. A bright green light was falling from the sky, the object disappearing behind some buildings. Though far from the object, the entire city heard the loud boom. Oliver felt Barry grab his upper arms and cool wind hit his face for a few seconds. He regained his balance, and struggled to keep his entire stomach from coming up; that was when Barry roughly pulled him down, behind a nearby boulder. Both slowly moved their heads up, and the sight they saw was terrifying for both.

A UFO, and not one from the old space movies, was now laying on the ground, some chunks scattered on the ground near the wreckage. A person, a man, called out, Barry swallowed, thinking they had been caught snopping at the crash site. But the man wasn't calling to them, he was running closer to the site, jumping over metal objects  as he slid to a stop and landed on his hip.

"Oh, shit!" The man hissed between his teeth from the pain of the impact and at the sight in front of him. Some purple faced alien was laying in a crater, one that looked like it had created it from impact of hitting the ground, and breathing wheezily from its mouth. It spoke in another language, clearly foreign, but when a small object floated from the creature, a ring, landed on his right ring finger and glowing a bright green, the creature mumbled something softly. Its head turned to the young man that had run over to assist.

"The ring has chosen you," a deep breath in, the alien slowly shutting its eyes. "Hal Jordan."

A.N. I know this isn't exactly how Abin Sur passed the ring onto Hal, but it's my interpretation of the situation. I've been wanting to do this for a while, and I that've tried to think of some ideas about how Hal can come into play with Barry and Oliver, since he hasn't been introduced in either show as far as I know. I'm still brainstorming ideas, so if the next chapter takes a while then it's because of Uni and ideas not popping into my head. Turns out my inspiration for writing is sitting by the fire, I'm doing it right now! Love you all, and if you have any suggestions for how I can use Hal, then im all ears. And yes, im getting around to Felicity and who she is wit (won't be Ray for long, spoilers!)
