It feels like you've always known Wanda. But the first memory you had from her was of when you were seven.

You were playing cops and robbers with some kids at school at break time when you heard whispers and something that sounded like crying coming from under the bleachers.

You walk over to investigate the sound and saw a girl there. She looks like she was your age and she had big green eyes and a dark hair. She hadn't noticed you, so when you say hi she startles. But then she smiles and says hi to you too.

- I heard him crying and came to look what it was. – She said, showing you the small puppy she was holding. When you pat his head and he licks you, you smile.

- What's his name? – You ask, still looking at the dog. You had never seen a dog so small and you thought it was really cute.

- I don't know. – She answers, sitting on the grass and you do the same. – We should give him a name. – She says after a while and you were really happy she included you.

She suggests that you call him Snoopy, because he was snooping around when she found him and you thought it was a great name because it reminded you of the dog you saw on the drawings on your father's newspapers.

When you ask her name, she says it's Wanda and you think it's a very unusual name, but you like it. You tell her your name as well.

When the break time ends and your teacher calls you over, you both take the dog with you. You walk to where Ms. Hill was waiting for the rest of the students and you beg her to keep the dog, with puppy dog eyes. The teacher giggles and says you can keep Snoopy as long as you take good care of him. You and Wanda exchanged excited smiles.

When your parents picked you up at school, you introduced Wanda to them and told them about Snoopy. She did the same with her parents.

After that, you found out that Wanda's house was next door to yours and that Snoopy would have to stay on her house because your father was allergic to dogs. But her parents said you could always visit Snoopy and you were really happy about it.

You feel a hand being placed on your shoulder and you startle. You turn to see your mother gazing you with gentle eyes.

- Sorry, mom. – You say and go back to put up the table. – I got distracted.

- That's okay. – She says tenderly. – I was just saying that our guests will get here at any minute. You should go get changed. Dress nicely.

She warns taking your hat off of your head and you giggle. You take a quick shower and decide to use your newest jeans and a shirt you liked a lot. When you finish buttoning it, you hear noises coming from downstairs.

Trying your best to ignore the sinking feeling on your stomach, you walk towards the front door, where your mother and your sister are welcoming the Maximoff family.

You walk towards the group and welcome them all, saving your last hug for Wanda. Olek hugs you first, giving strong taps on your back and you try not to cough at the action. Iryna hugs you too, but she spends most of the time tightening your cheeks and when she lets go you feel them numb. You saw Pietro recently, so the greeting with him is shorter, but he joked that he was impressed you were able to smell good and you messed his hair.

Both of your families walk to the kitchen, leaving you and Wanda behind. You both smile and hesitate for a second, but Wanda soon opens her arms, and you hug her by her waist.

As she wraps her arms around your neck you feel your whole body tingling at the sensation of having her so close. You close your eyes, tightening the grip on her waist, and she does the same, burring her face on your shoulder. You stay there for a while, but you don't let go. And you're glad she doesn't either.

When you parted there's a silence you don't quite know how to describe. You notice Wanda blinking back the tears in her eyes, but you decide not to talk about it.

- So. – She says looking at you with a playful smile. – You look way better than you did yesterday, with all that grease and stuff. – You giggle and nods.

- Yeah, I guess not all of us can look glamorous while working. – You say, but soon realize that it probably came out wrong since Wanda is shifting the weight on her feet uncomfortably. You just clear your throat and tilts your head for her to follow you. – Come on.

You two join the rest of the group and soon engage on the conversation. You listen more than you talk and your eyes meet Wanda's eyes very often, making you both blush every time. Pietro watches attentively the whole interaction, amused.

Olek asks you about the Christmas tree business, and you tell him how things have been going. When you mention the new ornaments, Wanda says she wants to see them and you shyly say you'll take her there anytime.

When your mother asks Wanda about her job, she starts to talk about all the plans she has for this year to come. The shine on her eyes and the proud smile on her face as she talks about her projects warm your heart up. She was happy and that's all you ever wanted for her. But there was also this part of you that felt sad and angry about her wanting to be away.

Soon your sister starts asking Wanda about the places she had been and the people she had met and Wanda answers every one of the questions, finding her endearing. Feeling overwhelmed by the duality of your feelings, you get up to grab a beer and you invite Pietro to come with you.

Soon the place is divided in three groups. Your mother and Wanda's parents are on the couch in the living room, discussing the Christmas fair that will be happening in a couple weeks. At the kitchen, Wanda and your sister are still talking about a bunch of celebrities that you have no idea who they are. By the window, you and Pietro talk about random subjects. As you listen, you try to pretend you're not noticing Wanda giving you concerned looks every now and then.

- I thought the dynamic between you two would be more... Intense. – Pietro says with a mischievous smile.

- What, do I look like the kind a person who makes a scene? – You say, sipping on your beer and Pietro giggles.

- No, I guess not. – He says, leaning on the window. – Tony is throwing a huge party this Saturday. It's supposed to be a throwback to prom or something.

- Yeah, I really do wanna remember that. – You say sarcastically, finishing your beer. The memories from that night still hurting inside your brain. Pietro only looks at you attentively.

Through the corner of your eyes, you see the Maximoff couple getting up along with your mother. The rest of you joins them.

- Thank you for the delicious lunch, (y/m/n) – Olek said with a smile, holding your mother's hands, and then looking at you and your sister as well. – It was great seeing you.

You all exchanged your goodbyes and once again Wanda is the last one you talk to.

- See you around. – She says with a smile, caressing your arm and depositing a gentle kiss on your cheek. You try to say something, but you are too panicked to react.

As your mother walks them to the front door, you stand there feeling your cheeks burning. By your side, your sister looks at you mischievously.

- What? Don't you have anyone else to bother? – You ask when you finally notice her.

- I do. But I like bothering you. – She retorts casually.

You roll your eyes and head towards the kitchen to start to clean everything up. You find it really hard to stop smiling during the whole process.
