Spoilers for the Masters 8 Tournament, mainly the 115th episode of Journeys
Okay, so, the Masters Tournament in Journeys started with Alain vs Leon in the first round for a three on three. Alain uses the new Chestnaught and Malamar he has and his Mega Charizard X, verses Leon's revealed G-Max Rillaboom, Charizard, and a third Pokemon that we didn't even get to see because Charizard and Rillaboom took care of Alain's whole three Pokemon team!
Chesnaught only took a resisted weakened G-Max Drum Solo and Acrobatics to take out, two shot, but hey, one was Quad-Effective!
Rillaboom took a Gyro Ball from Chestnaught to the face then Charizard's Flare Blitz to be taken down, two shot as well, kind of, well somewhat because it should have more health as a Gigantamax Pokemon so maybe he's very new to Leon's roster!
Malamar got hit by a Fire Blast from Leon's Charizard, and that's it, yeah it got one shot, like the Tyranitar Alain used in the Kalos League that got two shot by Thunderbolt and Electro Ball from Pikachu, and didn't do much to Pikachu, before Pikachu on his own, took down Alain's Metagross! It took half of Alain's Team, just to beat Pikachu! And it only took Charizard to beat Greninja because Ash didn't use a Water Move when the rain was up against Charizard!
Charizard got hurt by Flare Blitz Recoil, an Ancient Power and Dragon Pulse as Mega-Charizard X...yep, Alain's Charizard X got two shot after some recoil from Flare Blitz!
Overall, o7 and f's in the chat for Alain, he got bodied so badly, it's not even funny! I've never really liked Alain, I don't dislike or hate him, he just, never sat that great with me, maybe it was Team Flare, but whatever.
Remember with Pikachu, his two G-Max Volt Crash attacks, actually seemed to hurt Leon's Charizard with only two hits, one with him being at double health with Gigantamax? Leon's Charizard wasn't even Gigantamaxed to have double health and he didn't even seem fazed by any attacks that hit him. Wait, did Leon's Charizard even get hit?!?!
"Alain's Charizard powers through its opponent's with Dragon Claw and deals a successful hit, but its subsequent Flare Blitz results in it getting struck by a point-blank super effective , defeating it and eliminating Alain from the tournament." -Bulbapedia, JN115
Okay so Leon's Charizard actually did take a hit, from Tough Claws boosted, S.T.A.B. (Same Type Attack Bonus) Dragon Claw on a a Pokemon whose worst stat is Physical Defense, didn't seem to bother the Galar Champion's Charizard, in the SLIGHTEST! Yeah, for Pikachu to basically deal more damage to Leon's Undefeated Ace, it's pretty clear that Pikachu is stronger than Alain's Charizard, and most likely Ash's Greninja! Now, just because of certain things, I know that it doesn't show a Pokemon's strength fully from strategy, and Pikachu did use type advantages, but at the same time, for Pikachu's normally weak appearance, that's very impressive! Also, keep in mind that Pikachu lost to Alain's Charizard so quickly because he already lost most of his energy from dealing with a third of Alain's team alone, and could barely dodge attacks!
Greninja, at full HP, couldn't take down an already somewhat weakened Charizard, with it not getting hit by super effective, it's hard to have me move it past Pikachu still on my power scale because of certain things, like offensive power mainly in feats. Yeah, still, it's still Ash's second strongest at least from that!
Like even youtubers have bad tastes of it, and Lumiose Trainer Zac gave it a 4 (Mediocre) out of 10, which I think he barely rates episodes under 5, so yeah, that was bad!
Like, they should've had Ash vs Alain round one for revenge, because if Ash loses to Leon because of the Charizard, it doesn't mean Ash surpassed Alain, they just were not good enough for either of them to beat him!
