It's been a long time since I updated, so I'm willing to bet most of you have forgotten what's happening.
Mostly my fault. Anyway.
This is a temporary chapter that will eventually be deleted. It's just to refresh people on the basics. If you remember what's going on, you can ignore this. Well, just a quick skim will probably be good enough.
The refresher is separated to volume 1 & 2, including all the major changes from canon. Since it's only major changes, small things like dialogue, slight alterations, etc are not included. I don't talk in detail on Ayano and Matushita, for example.
So, PREVIOUSLY ON COTE:RETELLING :
V1:
Most of the plot remains the same, but here are the major changes:
1) Ayanokouji joins the soccer club alongside Hirata. Including them there are five total newcomers to the soccer club, the other three being Shibata (you know, the class B kid) and two OCs, Watanabe (class B) and Kotetsu (class C).
Watanabe and Kotetsu are childhood friends and retain a strong friendship.
During one of the practice games, Ayanokouji catches Nagumo's eye, just a bit.
There's a blue lock reference.
2) Ayanokouji interrogates Chabashira-sensei about the S-system on the roof, and theorizes a mostly accurate approximation of the S-System. He doesn't tell anyone, since he wants to observe the normal behaviour of the students.
Chabashira-sensei can't use this as blackmail since Ayanokouji has secured a memorandum preventing her from disclosing their conversation. She is looking for a strong opportunity to threaten Ayanokouji, deciding against using Horikita when she has no evidence.
3) During the practice midterms, there are five hard questions which, as it turns out, grant you class points for each one marked completely right. The practice exam scores go like this:
Ayanokouji got all five correct, but he also got six easy questions wrong to disguise himself.
(yellow are the important characters, red are the students at risk)
By the start of the next month, class D has 100 points.
As you can see from the scores, you can distinguish that three people have each gotten one of the difficult questions right. Koenji states the obvious-that 100 doesn't divide into 3-and theorizes that there's at least a "fourth" person who got a difficult question right. He notes that he finds there being leftover points unlikely based on their horrible behaviour, believing that all 100 points were earned via the bonus.
Koenji asks for the "fourth" to reveal themselves. Ayanokouji keeps quiet and Koenji doesn't push further.
4) Ayanokouji gets a video of Kushida freaking out on the roof. He has no plans to use it currently.
5) After the Ayano & older Horikita scuffle, he buys previous exam questions from the older Hori. He also promises to negotiate with him later, as Ayano has a recording of older Hori attacking younger Hori.
Ayano anonymously sends Hirata the questions and asks him to get questions from a second-year to double-check. He sends the same email to Kushida, and asks them to work together. He also asks them to keep his involvement secret and not tell anyone else about the email.
Hirata brings Karuizawa into the scheme against Ayano's demands since he wants to raise her social standing (they're already pretend-going out at this point).
Hirata theorizes their anonymous saviour is the "fourth" person Koenji talked about. They get the questions & are heralded as heroes the next day. No one is expelled.
6) Ayano & older Hori have a negotiation on the blackmail material Ayano has on older Hori. A memorandum is made, basically stating "Ayano will not reveal the recording or reveal anythign about what happened that day" and older Hori will "avoid attracting attention to Ayano & give him 520,000 points"
"neither will hold malicious intent towards each other."
7) Ayano and Matushita basically become running buddies over the course of V1. They're chill.
8) Ayano has been using the friends-can-see-each-other's-location feature a lot throughout the story. As far as he knows, nobody else has noticed the feature yet, and he wants to keep it secret for a bit longer.
Due to the class group chat, which automatically friends all members, he can check the location of every class D student.
One day, while peeping on a group of class D student's antics, Ayano notices that Hondou Ryoutarou, a mostly inconspicuous class D student, also knows about the feature. Later, he theorizes Hondou also doesn't want the feature to become public knowledge, but why and to what degree is unknown.
V2
1) Ayano meets & befriends Hiyori.
2) Sudo gets accused of beating up 2 class C students (as usual). Class D half-heartedly mobilizes to save Sudo.
Class B contacts Ayano, asking to have a meeting between class representatives.
Ayano, Kushida, and Hirata have a meeting with Kanzaki, Ichinose and Watanabe in a karaoke booth about helping each other out.
Class B has just revealed that they have reason to believe class C was the instigator, despite how they were going on about "from our perspective either of you could be guilty" a few minutes ago.
...And that's basically it.
