Chapter 21

"Let's begin, Ms. Haitani," Carter says. You nod your head.

She ain't calling me by my first name.

"Can you tell us how you ran into Mr. Koyomata?" Naoto says.

"Yes sir. I was at a club with some friends, and we were outside telling each other bye. I got into my car a few minutes after that and began driving home. I stopped at a store and picked up some ramen for me to eat if I got hungry later that night. When I came out a heard someone in the alley next to me groaning. So, I went to my car first and put the food inside my trunk, and began walking over there." You stopped because it looked like she wanted to say something.

"Can you tell me why you decided to go check," she asks.

"I went to go check because my parents said before they died if you ever hear someone in an alley sounding like they needed help go and see. But make sure to take something just in case it's not," you say. She nods her head.

"So not knowing if you were going to die you went and checked. You found him bruised up, fingers missing, and losing blood. Why didn't you call an ambulance."

"Ambulances take too long to arrive at the scene he might've been dead by the time they've gotten there," you say. Naoto began nodding his head and she looked at him.

"Let me finish. You drove your car over there by him and put him inside." Naoto asked. You nodded your head and he smiled. "After that, he must've said where his fingers were and you opened your drunk and put the ramen in another place and placed his fingers in the bag. You then came to the hospital and waited until they got done with the surgery." he finishes.

"Yes sir," you said. Naoto continues smiling and writing stuff down and Maki is staring at you. You catch her looking and smile. She turns her head and looks at his notes.

"That was very brave of you Ms.Haitani. If I were in your shoes I would've run." Naoto said while chuckling.

"Believe me, I was," you say.

"How'd you get in contact with his family?" Maki asks.

"His ID. I showed the nurse, and she knew his wife. Because she has chemotherapy here at this hospital. She contacted her and told her." you say. She nods her head and begins packing her things up.

"Alright that's all Ms. Haitani, I'm pretty sure you're tired," Naoto says. You nod your head and tell them you're going to stay until his wife arrives. He shakes your hand and says they'll contact you if they have any more questions. You say ok and head out into the lobby.

"Where's my husband?!" you hear a voice say. You turn around and see a woman shouting at the lobbyist. "His name is Kira Koyomata." You begin walking over there towards her and tap on her shoulder.

"Huh?!"

"My name is Y/n Haitani and I'm the one who brought your husband here," you say. She gives you a hug and keeps saying thank you.

"Do you know where he is?" she asks.

"Yes ma'am, when I got called down here to be questioned, he was still in the OR," you say.

"Can you take me there?"

"Yes ma'am," you say. You and her begin walking to the elevator and wait to get on. You two get in and she begins talking.

"My name is Misa."

"That's a beautiful name," you say. She smiles and stays quiet until the elevator dings and you two get off. You ask the nurse about Kira and she says they put him in a room give them 10 more minutes and you two will be able to see him. You two walk to the waiting room and you see Ran sleeping in a chair.
