Woo, this took me longer than I wanted, but here we are! I finally have the entire plot planned out, so now chapters will hopefully come out more often, as long as my motivation doesn't dissapear. Anyways, enjoy this chapter! Or don't, up to you.

!!TW: Mentions of Blood and Death!!

~ Sabre's PoV ~

We run along the rooftops, the Darkness Guards chasing us from the Rainbow Kingdoms streets. Reed grips my wrist tightly, making me keep up to his fast pace, which I struggle to do. I trip and stumble often, unsure as to how he can run so fast.

Some of the Green Steves in the Green Sector yell and shout at us. They also grumble to themselves when the Darkness Guards shove them out of their way, knowing that they can't protest against it as they can be punished.

We jump off the roof and land safely on a pile of hay. We get out and hide behind the wagon it's in. My breathing is heavy and uneven, the recent events still processing in my mind.

"I'll lead the guards away, you stay here," Reed tells me and I nod, unable to form words.

Reed runs off and I try to calm my breathing. That fails when a familiar voice quietly speaks.

"Sabre?"

I turn around and see Aeson staring at me, his eyes wide and filled with shock. His hands, which are holding a basket of baked goods and food, are slightly shaking.

"Aeson- I can explain," I try to remain calm, which is actually more difficult than I'd like to admit.

"Y-your with-" Aeson starts, but I bring him behind the cart.

"Look. I was waiting where you told me, when I hear noises from an alleyway. Me, being the stupid person I am, decided to go check it out. There was a rebel and a Darkness Guard fighting. The Guard saw me and used me as a hostage. The Darkness Guard was shot and killed by another rebel, and they asked if I was okay. Due to the Guard, I would've been taken and questioned and possibly punished if I didn't go with them. It was the only way to stay safe. Trust me, if I could walk away from this, I would," I quietly explain to Aeson who just has a constant look of disbelief on his face.

He goes to respond, but is cut off by the sound of Reed clearing his throat.

"Sabre, what is he doing-" he's cut off by an arrow going through his throat. Blood trickles down his neck and throat as he gasps for air. His clothing is stained even more red than before, the blood creating a small puddle on the ground.

Reed falls to the ground, dead before impact.

Behind him was a Darkness Guard. His bow is still cocked, though there is no arrow ready to shoot.

Aeson and I are both silent, unable to speak. We just- Reed was murdered right in front of us. The puddle of blood grows and grows as more blood gushes from Reeds deadly wound.

The Guard starts to approach us, but Blane grabs my hand and drags me away, leaving Aeson alone to face the Darkness Guard. I try to fight against Blane. I try to go back and get Aeson. But, I am not that strong, and Blane easily overpowers me. That doesn't stop me from trying, though.

"Sabre, stop struggling," Blane says, his voice slightly mumbled from his tears. "We need to get out of here before the Darkness Guards catch us."

"No!  I can't just leave Aeson with the Darkness Guards! I didn't even want to be apart of your damn rebel group anyways!" I say as I continue to struggle in Blane's grip.

"Sabre, your friend will be fine. I promise," Blane murmurs, though I don't believe him.

Shouts of the Darkness Guards come closer as more and more come to catch us. As much as I hate to admit it, Blane is right. We need to get out of here otherwise worse things will happen to us. Aeson will just be questioned, which he doesn't know more than what I told him, and that isn't much. I don't want to leave him there, though. I've heard that Void's interrogation tactics are anything but calm. I've experienced them before in my past...

My... past...

My past that I don't like talking about.

I stumble, which breaks me out of my thoughts. Blane tugs on my arm, and we continue to run away from the Darkness Guards. We run through the Yellow district and enter the Orange district. The district that Blane and I live in.

"Blane, where are we going?" I question as I barely keep up with him.

"M-my house," He mumbles.

We can't go there.

"Blane, they'll expect us to go to your house," I point out.

He's silent for a minute.

"Then your house," he says and gives me a look that asks where my house is.

"They'll expect us to go there as well. We have to go somewhere where they won't expect us to go to so we can lose them," I say as we continue to run. "We have to hurry, though, the Guards are catching up to us and I'm growing tired quickly."

Blane groans, and speeds up. At this point, I can't fully keep up, so he's partially dragging me. I don't know how this guy is so fast, typically the Yellow Steves are the fast ones. Blane must be around the same speed as a teenage Yellow Steve. How much training has he went through?!

We make many twists and turns around the Orange district when we finally take cover in an abandoned house. The Darkness Guards run past the house, allowing us to catch our breath. I pant for air, gasping slightly as my lungs try to get the air they need. Blane, on the other hand, simply has uneven breaths. His cheeks are tear stained, new tears running down in the tracks off and on. He must've been close to Reed.

I hear Blane say something, but I'm too tired to process it. My vision becomes slightly fuzzy, and I lean against the broken-down wall for support. My breathes are more raggid as I panic, unknowing as what's happening. I feel like I'm going to pass out.

"Sabre, SABRE!" Blane yells when he notices my condition.

"Blane I- I think I'm gonna pass out," I breathe out.

Blane looks at me worridly, then comes to my side.

"Here, lean on me. I'll get you to a sitting position," He mumbles, and wraps an arm around my mid-back. I lean my weight on him as he gets us into a sitting position. "I think I know what's happening."

I give him a questioning glance.

"You exerted yourself too much. You need to rest. Try to sleep if you can, I'll keep watch," Blane says.

Even though I barely know Blane, I trust him enough right now to keep me safe. I fall asleep quickly, leaning my head on his shoulder.

The last thing I hear is Blane whispering, "Sleep well, Sabre."

I don't know why, but I'm very proud of this chapter. I liked writing it when I finally got the motivation and ideas to do so.

Anyways, I hope you all have a wonderfull day or night!
