Something has changed in the plane and Jemma isn’t all to sure she can put a finger on what it is. Everything had been fine, well as fine as things gets, before they left for the HUB and Fitz and Ward's mission.

And with all consider, her helping Skye being a rebel and shooting a top agent, everything had run smoothly. Even going to tell agent May what she had done wasn’t as bad as she thought it would be.

But once they got their boys back and they were left to their own devices once more, she started to feel that something isn’t right. She just couldn’t put a finger on what is wrong and it has been taking up most of her time to put a finger on it.

“Um, Simmons?”

Hearing Fitz voice, Simmons turns her head, realising she has been lost in her own mind. Completely forgetting she’s in the lab with Fitz and that they are trying to work on the night-night gun.

“Sorry, what?”

She asks, figuring that Fitz must have spoken to her without her realising it, and from the look her long time partner gives her, she realises she is right.

“Is everything alright? You seem quite distracted.”

Fitz asks, putting down what ever object he was holding onto and steps towards her part of the lab. Taking in a deep breath, Jemma nods her head.

“Yeah, it’s just... it feels like something has changed.”

“A lot of things has. We are being put more and more out there, being in the centre of all the action.”

“No, I don’t mean that, even if that is true. I just have this feeling something has changed in the dynamic on the BUS. Something happened when we tried to rescue you and Ward, but I don’t know what it could possibly be.”

Jemma explains as she lets out a sigh of frustration. Looking at Fitz, she realises he hasn’t seen it, or at least he hasn’t thought about it and it reminds her of how she had to point out that Skye seemed to be afraid of him and Ward back when she first joined them. Thinking about that situation makes her go over everything once more and it can’t be that.

Skye has made great progress with Fitz and the three of them have grown into quite the group by now, sure Skye still stays away from Ward and only accepts his present if someone else is there. But Ward can be quite scary and he doesn’t make it easy to like him. So it can’t be this, there has to be something else.

“Maybe we should take a break, it’s clear that you won’t be able to concentrate on work and it’s almost time for supper.”

Fitz tells her, making Jemma nod her head, knowing fully well that Fitz is right about this. Turning to the work she has abounded, she starts to put it all away before deciding that leading up to the main part of the plane is a good plan. Hopping to see Skye at least, normally the hacker would spend time with her and Fitz down in the lab, but she did show up so she guess she has just been hanging about in her bunk all day.

Reaching the second floor, she heads directly for Skye’s bunk, seeing that the door is closed, she knocks carefully. Not wanting to scare the other girl if she is resting.

“Skye, are you in there?”

Jemma asks when there is no response, which makes her surprise. Looking around, her eyes lands on Ward that’s sitting alone by the bar.

“Have you seen Skye?”

“I saw her head towards Coulson’s office earlier.”

The special agent informs her and Jemma nods her head, satisfied with that answer. If she is spending time with Coulson then things is quite alright.

“Are you guys already hungry? Considering you are already up here?”

Ward asks, making Jemma turn her attention towards him once more.

“I couldn’t concentrate so Fitz decided it would be enough for now, he did mention its almost supper time so I think he is.”

“Then I’ll start preparing some dinner.”

Ward says, putting some extra tone when he says dinner and rises from the chair. Rolling her eyes at his behaviour, Jemma starts to walk to her bunk, since there isn’t much else she can do until the food is ready. Trying to help Ward out in the kitchen is a bad idea.

Half an hour later he calls out that good is ready and Jemma moves herself from bed, it had been quite nice to just sit there, doing nothing. Leaving her bunk and heading for the kitchen and dining table, she sees that Fitz and Coulson has already joined Ward. So far no sight of May and Skye, Jemma sits down.

Turning her attention towards Coulson, she is about to ask where the hacker is when Skye comes walking towards them. Without a word, Skye takes the free seat beside Jemma and when Jemma turns to look at Skye, she can tell that something is wrong. It looks like the other woman has been crying and if they were not sitting with the boys, she would ask what is wrong.

May joins them a few minutes later and Jemma is quite sure that the older agent looks more angry than normal, which makes her wonder all over again what is going on. The supper is enjoyed in silent and before Jemma has figured out a plan to get some time alone with Skye and ask what is wrong, the hacker has locked herself into her bunk and refuses to come out.

Looking around herself, she realises happily that she isn’t the only one that has picked up on her strange behaviour and she can tell that Coulson is trying to figure out what to say or ask about it all.

“Is everything alright? She seems quite distracted and not to mention after the stunt she pulled...”

Coulson starts to say, only to grow silent at the look May is sending him. A look that makes Jemma scared, she has seen the older woman angry, she has heard the stories, this is the first time she sees it with her own eyes. This is the reaction she had expected to see when she told her she shoot agent Sitwell.

May doesn’t say a word as she rises from the table and leaves, creating more questions than answers. Turning to look at Coulson, she can see confusion and anger in his eyes, which makes her a bit worried, and it’s in that moment she realises what is wrong.

Something had gone down between May leaving her at the plane to get Skye and when the two of them return. Thinking back to when Coulson showed up on the plane himself just as they enter it, there had been a tension she had just thought was due to what they were about to do.

“What stunt did she pull?”

Ward asks, making Jemma turn her attention towards the conversation at the table.

“She hacked into S.H.I.E.L.D database, I caught her in the act and I think she used trying to find out about your mission as a cover up for looking for something else.”

Coulson explains and Jemma feels a chill go through her body. There was no way Skye would pull something like that, not when she has been helping her. No, something else has gone down and something tells Jemma that agent Coulson is the reason for it all.

“Everyone finished?”

She asks as she starts taking away the dishes, not able to be around for the conversation any longer. Seeing how Coulson, Ward and Fitz nods their heads, she takes the plates and heads for the kitchen to clean it all up. Taking the time to go over everything she has seen since they rescued Fitz and Ward.

Realising that Skye has been hiding once more, but not only from Ward, but from Coulson as well. The only difference, when ever Coulson entered the lab when she was with her and Fitz, Skye would find an excuse to leave as quickly as possible.

Skye, who only accepted Coulson to be close to her when first joining, is now scared of the older agent and Jemma is going to figure out exactly what is going on
