“Is this how you felt when you were all forced to leave the base after I was shoot?”
She only managed a quick glance of Victoria when she was brought into the tower. Evgenia had come with Willie, clothes covered in blood, when Pepper had seen her, she went to find something she could change into.
Clint had been quite confused about the fact that Evgenia was there. They had at least managed to push up the talk about the two of them dating. If Victoria wants them to know, she would inform him herself.
“I think the feelings are close to one another.”
Jemma answered, and Skye leans towards her friend. She had been torn, not knowing if she should just have stayed at the tower or going to meet up with her mother and Coulson.
But she had promised the three of them would head for the base and it would just be more questions if she doesn’t show up at this point.
“Dr Johnson will make sure she is safe and will update you the moment she knows more about agent Hands condition.”
Jemma tries to assure her and Skye gives her a weak smile as an answer. Knowing it will be she who has to give the bad news if it would come to that. Shaking her head, she tries to push that thought away.
“About the scars...”
She starts instead, she had gone over the interactions with Jemma and Leo during the time when she had accidentally shown them and realised that Jemma didn’t look surprised. Not to mention she had silenced Leo when he first saw them.
“I helped Dr Johnson when we reached your sisters base, I saw them then. I was surprised and froze, that’s when Dr Johnson told me to just ignore it. There’s nothing that can be done about them, they are old and if you are hiding them, then to just let you. There would come a time when you fell comfortable to show us or tell us.”
Jemma explain, already figuring out what Skye was thinking about.
“So, what are the plans for reaching the new base?”
Leo asks, finally joining the conversation when it fell into silence.
“I have no idea of what this base is, I guess we need to go over it all. I need to check the security systems to make sure no unwanted people shows up and I should probably delete us from the face of the earth for a while, at least until we know more about the HYDRA problem.”
“Yeah, I can’t believe that fact.”
“It’s crazy to think the organisation Captain America was fighting during World War 2 is still active.”
“I mean, Steve crashed a plan and was an ice cube for years. If anyone was fighting against HYDRA the longest it was the people who later on created S.H.I.E.L.D right?”
“Ah, yes. Peggy Carter.”
There was a dreamy tone in Jemma’s voice as she mentioned the former director and Skye can’t help but to smile.
“Imagine to have files from back then, maybe we could figure out how all of this happened.”
“Yeah, and I presume it’s not files I can hack into S.H.I.E.L.D to find.”
Skye says with a sigh, finally reaching a point where she can’t be of help.
“Whit your skills, you will managed to dig out information about what is going on form the S.H.I.E.L.D systems, one way or another.”
Leo tells her, and she can hear that he has full trust in her.
“The thing that just comes back to me, is how are we going to be able to do the train ride through Italy with HYDRA out there?”
