-𝔻𝕒𝕣𝕜 𝕊𝕔𝕒𝕣𝕝𝕖𝕥.While in her dorm, Bex was figuring out the words for the letter she'd send to everyone back in Hawkins. But she couldn't find them. Being gone for such a long time was getting in the way of her communication skills with them. She hadn't written back to Billy in weeks, and to the rest of them it had been over two months. She was consumed by piles of homework and practices that would last for hours.
But she's a D1 soccer player, surely that entails for the lack of letters being sent. At least, that's what she keeps telling herself. She pulled her headphones off and stopped the music that was playing. With long deliberation, she reorganized her desk before heading out of her room. Locking the door behind her, she pulled out the slip of paper Eleanor had given her. It read, 'Dorm 203, don't be shy."
With a huff, she made her way through the halls and searched for the girls dorm room. When she found it, she hesitantly placed a knock on it. The door swung open and her nose was filled with the familiar stench of weed and booze. Kacey peaked her head over from afar, a smile spreading across her face. "Hey, let her in, it's the girl we told you guys about."
The raven-haired girl stepped aside, allowing Bex to walk in.She took note of the many girls and boys lounging around in the decent-sized dorm room. "Everybody, this is Na'Déja Rockefeller, our star player on the soccer field," Eleanor informed. She was smiling from ear to ear while doing the introduction. "You can call me Bex, by the way," She said. "I like Na'Déja better. It's... Unique."
Bex bit her tongue at that moment. One of the guys were staring her down like his prey, and she quickly averted her eyes to somewhere else, pulling her brown flannel closer to her body. "We're just getting ready, you can chill out until we leave."During that time, Bex sat quietly on the couch and observed the people around her. They were nothing like her, she could tell that from their behavior. She cleared her throat, heading for the door. But before she could even touch the handle, someone had grabbed her wrist. Although their grip was soft, their eyes were stone cold and filled with intent.
"Where ya' goin', doll?" He smiled. Her stomach twisted and turned but in all the worst ways. "I forgot something in my dorm..." She said. She avoided his eyes at all costs. "Did you now? How about I walk with you?"She quickly shook her head. "No, it's fine -- I'll be fine," She countered. "It's no problem. Bex, was it?"
When she tried for the handle again, his grip grew stronger. Suddenly, the bathroom door swung open and a new group of girls came out. "God, Daniel! Can you not be a perve for one night?" Bex let go of a shaky breath as he let go, getting out of that dorm room as fast as possible. She quickly made it back to her own and locked the door behind her just in case.
Her back hit the door as she slid against it, running a hand through her long, curly hair. She watched as the clump became entangled in her fingers. It had been falling out for a while now, and she never mentioned it to anyone because she thought it was a phase -- something that would pass. But it didn't and she didn't know what to do about it. Suddenly, the radio on her desk began to go haywire before a voice cut through the static. "This is a code red, do you copy?"
And then again, "Dark Scarlet, do you copy? This is a code red!"
She ran over to the radio and grabbed the mic, pressing the button, "I copy, I copy. What's going on, Dusty?""The upside dow-" His voice cut out for a few seconds as static began to take over once more, "Billy," was the last thing she heard before the audio went out completely. Her lungs worked to get oxygen to them but it still wasn't enough. She hadn't talked to Billy for weeks, and now she gets a code red from Dustin who's all the way in Indiana? Bex was going insane, that was clear. But she knew what she had to do. She packed her bags, told Admin she'd be out for a few weeks and got on the next flight to Hawkins, Indiana.
