*Final Chapter*

(A/N: I quite literally wrote the last part of this chapter to this song :/ I'm gonna go cry now.)

My day started out normal. I woke up, got ready, made breakfast for the boys, and headed into town to run some errands for them. I even picked some things up for Cassidy now that he's being moved from county. It was hard seeing him behind that glass again, not being able to hug him or rough him up a little for getting on my nerves.
I even stopped by the high school to visit nance and Robin, even spoke to Eddie a little. But then the storm hit and the balance of good and evil tipped the scale to the full abyss.
We were quite literally hiding from Russians right now, all because the kids figured out they opened the upside down again.

Now, I had never been involved with any of their weird adventures, not even after they told me everything. But now I was right in the middle of everything with no way out. I held my breath, listening as they narrowed us down and started to surround us. Steve held me close by, even more scared than I am and that says something. Dude's seen more fucked up, other dimension, parallel universe shit than I have and yet he's clutching my body like a scared child.

I jumped, hearing an extremely loud thud before everything went silent again. We all looked at each other before building the balls to look and see what was going on. On the other side of the counter, the display car was flipped over and the Russian soldiers were dead.
The rest of them looked up, but my eyes were trained on the car. "Are you guys seein' this shit?" Steve nudged my arm before climbing over the counter and helping me do the same.
"So, is this shit just normal to all of you?" They all shot me a glance before continuing to talk.

"Right, right... Too many questions?" Dusty patted my shoulder, "You'll get used to it." I don't think I want to, this shit is absolutely insane. While they talked amongst themselves, I stuck to wandering around the mall. Out of all the years I lived here in Hawkins, this place was never that exciting to me. "Bex!" My head whipped around to the voice. "Ashton? Anthony? What're you doing here?"
They ran straight for me, bringing me into a tight hug. "What the hell happened to the display car?" Ash questioned. "Long story. Do you guys even know what's going on?"

"We know more than you do, so yeah."
My eyes widened. "How long have you two known?" I asked. "Since like... Before Billy and Max moved here with their deadbeat." I scoffed. "You're telling me you guys told them before telling me? My brothers, who're currently running on two brain cells each? I mean, am I not trustworthy? I can fight monsters from other dimensions, too!"
Dustin and the kids laughed from afar. "What's so funny, dickwad?"
He shrugged. "You're back."

You're back. I'm back. Was the change that obvious? I mean, I wouldn't say I'm back. I'm like halfway here right now, the dissociation is crazy. Nothing really feels real, if I'm being honest.
Eventually, the "Adults" came and they all made a plan. I'm gonna be totally honest here, I still have zero clue about what's going on.
"Hey, Steve?" I asked. He hummed in response. "Do you think there's a phone nearby?" His eyes became soft. "He's not gonna answer, Bexy."
I offered him just the ghost of a smile. "I know... I just- I don't know, I'm so used to leaving messages that he'll never return and..."
And as if it was instinct, he wrapped his arms around me tightly.

So much for group Jiffy Pop detail, huh?

The fireworks were so magically that she had become lost within them. She had never seen something so beautiful be used as a weapon against evil. She grabbed the last one from her and Steve's basket before throwing it, releasing it into the air and watching as it exploded into the Mind Flayer's mouth.
Her breath hitched as it let go of deafening screams. "We're out!" She yelled. "We are too!" Lucas's words had echoed, everyone else being unarmed as well. She looked to Steve for reassurance, but there was none. She knew this could end one of two ways tonight. "What're we gonna do?"

"Bex!" Eleven's voice rang through the entire complex. Bex's heart dropped to her stomach as she watched the Mind Flayer narrow in on her. Steve noticed the glint in her eyes, grabbing her arm before she could make a move. "This isn't the time to play mommy, Bex!"
"I would give my life for these kids, Steve. I don't know if you would too, but they're everything to me. I'm not watching her die."
She ripped her arm from his grasp and ran as fast as her feet could carry her. Her physical state was no help.

She was extremely out of shape, losing most of her weight due to stress. But she ran, feeling the burn in her chest and calves as she tried to get to El. And when she did, her feet slowed to a stop. Her heart panged, tears filling her eyes. "Billy..."
He offered her only the ghost of a smile. This was it, the end of the world was coming. She watched as the Mind Flayer drew closer, striking Billy.
"Billy!" But she was stuck, her feet wouldn't move, and her throat burned red and hot.

And it struck again, and again, and again until the life was drained out of him. Her lungs were begging her for air she would never be able to feed them.
When the monster let go, she was released from her prison and ran to him, Max right by her side. "Billy, no, no!"
"I'm sorry..." He tried so hard to get the words out but they got stuck. "I love- love you... Both of you."
As his eyes turned cold and dark for the last time, not one, but two hearts had shattered into billions of pieces that would never be put back together. "Billy get up, wake up..."

Bex stared at the girl blankly, tears streaming down her face that she didn't have the courage to wipe away. Everything went numb for her as she brought Max into her arms, holding her tighter than ever and never wanting to let go. And she cried -- they cried, harder than they ever have.
That was when the last straw of light left her eyes, leaving them black like the deepest ends of the ocean. And by that, she was lost.

-------

That's a wrap! Bro, I wanna cry. Like what? I literally refused to watch the new season because I was still mourning Billy and when I did, I cried for like five episodes straight, especially the "dear Billy" one. It was genuinely heartbreaking. I know this is kind of a mess so whenever I get the time, I wanna revise and rewrite certain things but I think it's okay how it is for the time being.

I really hope you all enjoyed the story and the craziness of Billy and Bex (Just realized their names go together somehow), they're literally the best characters I've ever written as a love story. I'm kind of upset I didn't do more with the whole being-a-Rockefeller-thing. If I make a second book I'll add more to it but other than that, this is currently the end of their story together.

Who would've thought them meeting at a party would end so inevitably, if that makes sense. It's tragic, really; the love storys with no real ending.
