"yeah we met the first day she moved." Jaden said giving Javon a quite dirty look,
i didn't know why they were being so weird with each other but i wanted to break the tension as fast as i could but luckily Jessica saved me.

"okay everyone into the car please, Stella where do you want to sit?"
she asked.

"she can sit next to me." Javon said sternly but at the same as Jaden said,
"in between me and Daelo."
i just stared at them both and i think they were waiting for a response.
I just shrugged my shoulders and Javon rolled his eyes at me and grabbed my hand before dragging me to the car door and opening it.
"here, sit." he said sighing.
i followed his orders slightly confused and just sat where he told me to.
I was sat exactly behind daelo so i could see jaden, he couldn't see me unless he turned around...

I was staring at Jadens head and he turned his head slightly too look at me,
i smiled slightly at him hoping for one back, he did smile back just half way so i didn't know wether it was a good or bad thing.

Javon sat next to me and put on his seatbelt, he leaned closer to me and whispered into my ear,

"can you help? i can't get it to click."

my cheeks turned red and i looked down at his hand which had the buckle in, i grabbed it from out of his hands and tried to fit it in, i eventually got it to click and i looked up at him,

"thanks Stel." he whispered.

i smiled and stared out of the car window,
"everyone ready?" Dj asked as he started up the car, Jayla said yes and everyone else nodded including me.
I don't think Javon realised that i could see his reflection in the window because i caught him staring at me a few times while we were driving.

When we pulled up to the field i realised how big it actually was,

"woah." i mumbled.

"big isn't it." i heard a voice say to me as the car stopped,
it was Jaden.

I nodded my head and carried on staring at the field. Everyone got out of the car and we all followed Jessica and Dj to the entrance of the field,

I stared at Jaden's back which had a big number seventeen written on it,

I walked a little bit faster to get next to him before speaking up trying to break the silence,

"seventeen is my lucky number."

He looked at me and smiled whilst his cheeks turned red.

"so is this an actual practice with your team or just with your family?" i asked Staring at Jaden.

"just us but two of my friends should be here to come practice with us."

"oh, so what base do you play?"

"i'm a catcher." he answered, we arrived at the entrance and we all walked in..Jaden ran up to two boys that i assumed were his friends.

Dj and Jessica were putting down a blanket and some baseball equipment and Daelo was running around in circles around the field.

I was stood with Javon and Jayla who were talking about some girl called Ava.

"she called you guys 'fucking dumbasses'
Javon and your not bothered?" i heard Jayla say under her breath..i wonder who Ava was.

"it doesn't matter right now let's just talk about it later." Javon said to her in a quiet voice as he pointed his head in my direction...i quickly walked away from them so they didn't realise i was listening to their conversation and i went and sat on a bench, i was watching Jaden messing around with his friends and he saw me. He waved his hands about at me and gestured for me to come over so i got up and walked a little fast over to him and his friends.

As i stood next to Jaden i watched as his friends looked at me,
"guys this is Stella my new neighbour."
Jaden said excitingly.

"i'm Evan."
"i'm Seth."
they smiled at me and i did the same back.

"so how come your watching him practice? His ex hated baseball." Seth asked me.

"i like baseball i guess, i used to play."
i said as i picked at the skin on my hands.

"wait..you play too?" Jaden said as he turned to face me.

"no i used to Jaden."

"you totally got to show me your moves!" he said grabbing me by the wrist.

"i will be so rusty though i haven't played in like 4 years." i said trying to get myself out of this super embarrassing situation.

"it's fine don't worry Evan's not too bad and he doesn't even play." i heard seth say as they jogged behind me and Jaden who was dragging me over to the diamond.

"so what position do you play?" Seth asked me.

"i WAS a batter."

they laughed when i shouted at him and Jaden gave me a baseball bat.

"Ok show me what you got." he said not even giving me time to get into position.

As fast as i could, i put my bat in the air and stood correctly so i could get the perfect hit..you see i was always good at baseball because dad taught me a secret move.

As Jaden threw the ball i kept my eye on it as it came closer and closer by each second, i waited for the perfect time before i swung my bat...i was overthinking again because this could go really embarassing.

I hit the ball and it flew up into the air, if it was an actual game i would've hit a home run..it was like i had a guardian angel beside me because i hadn't played in almost 4 years. How did i do that?

The boys cheered for me and Jaden ran up to me taking of his gloves.

"you did it!" he shouted as he wrapped his arms around my waist tightly and lay his head on my shoulder, his hug was so warm.
