Phil's POV

TW: This Chapter includes explosions

Ranboo and I arrived at the mine, it had been pretty much emptied out over the years but it was the only mine around and neither me nor Ranboo felt like walking very far or putting in the effort required to dig a new one today.

As we walked further into the mine looking around aimlessly we began making pleasant small talk I thanked Ranboo for the pastries and made sure to tell Tubbo I said thank you and then we discussed how the others day had been. Even though the conversation was pretty dry it was still comforting and relaxing after waking up and having such a stressful day already.

However as we walked further into the mine Ranboo began to fall more silent and despite his cheerful voice when he did speak I noticed that his eyes kept darting around nervously as if looking out for something and his tail and ears were twitching rapidly.

He was nervous over something but I wasn't quite sure what, I know he had just walked in on me talking to myself...How much did he hear? Was he scared of me now? Or, maybe just worried? I wasn't sure and for some reason I felt guilty, I didn't want him to see me like that.

"You alright, Ranboo?", I spoke up finally after a long moment of awkward and tense silent.

Ranboo looked at me for a moment with an unsure look in his eyes then sighed, "Ye-yeah," he stammered as he began, "I just have a weird feeling about this...." his eyes looked around nervously again and his ears flicked behind his head slightly, however after catching my worried eyes he perked up slightly with a small smile, "But i'm okay! Don't worry!", he tried to convince me cheerfully.

I looked at him for a moment and then looked around as well I couldn't put my foot on it but something did feel...off. Almost as if we were being watched, however I looked around and saw nothing. "I understand, I have a weird feeling too to be honest...I don't really care too much for this place anymore either nowadays..", I always got a creepy feeling when I was here.

"Yeah, me too", Ranboo nodded in agreement moving to stand closer to me, I smiled gently and held back a slight laugh, usually someone would think the tall enderman was protecting me, however I knew that it was the opposite, I didn't mind though Ranboo was like a son to me.

I let out a soft sigh, "Unfortunately this is the only mine around for miles..."

Ranboo let out a sigh of understand and then looked around seeing nothing around us, "I guess...do you wanna go deeper into the cave?" he asked gently.

I nodded, if we wanted to mine this would likely be our only choice, the mine probably just felt weird because of how empty and borderline abandoned it seemed. "Sure, we'll likely find better stuff there.", I agreed.

"Okay..", Ranboo muttered slightly as we began to walk further into the mine, however he never left my side and he kept looking around with the same nervousness in his side.

I looked up at him with concern, I didn't want to make him feel like he had to be here, if he was uncomfortable I wanted him to know it was okay and we'd leave, "Ranboo....are you sure your okay?" I asked gently.

Ranboo looked at me and smiled gently, "yeah, I'm fine Phil."

"okay," I responded with a gentle voice, "if anything's bothering you though just know you can tell me okay?...If you'd like we can leave." I smiled kindly.

Ranboo smiled at me, "we don't have to leave Phil, but thank you, if anything bothers me i'll let you know, thank you."

I nodded and smiled at him gently and we continued exploring for awhile.

~Time Skip To A Few Hours Later~
Third Person  POV

"Uh....", Ranboo said absentmindedly as he stared at the blank walls of the mine, they had been looking forever and only came up with a few pieces of coal and two blocks of iron.

Phil was also looking around but finally let out a sigh of defeat, "ugh, i'm not seeing ANYTHING here."

Ranboo sighed and sounded just as defeated, "yeah, I agree." he said tiredly as he leaned against a wall and tiredly sighed. So much for their mining trip.

Phil sat down tiredly on the ground leaning against the wall and then looked at Ranboo tiredly, "wanna go on?" he asked exhaustively.

Ranboo shrugged and sighed, "It's up to you, either way I need a new pickaxe." he glanced down at his pretty much dead pickaxe and then looked up at Phil his gaze and voice softening, "is it alright if I go grab one real quick and then come back? I won't be long", he smiled.

Phil nodded and smiled as well, "Sure thing mate, just try not to be too long.", he gave his friend a playful wink and Ranboo laughed slightly and gave a soft 'mhm' as he began to walk away.

Phil watched him leave until Ranboo disappeared, he leaned his head against the wall and let out a soft sigh and closed his eyes, he felt so tired... Maybe when Ranboo got back he'd just tell him he wanted to go home.

He was so tired...

Suddenly Phil heard a clacking noise nearby like rocks falling, Phil opened an eye expecting to see Ranboo returning and saw nothing. He opened his eyes and stretched yawning slightly and looked around trying to find the location of the noise.

Suddenly he saw a flash of a shadow from the corner of his eye and stiffened, something was definitely there. He stood up and slowly drew his sword not sure what was watching him, he knew for sure he was being watched now and he didn't like it.

"R-Ranboo?" he asked slightly, hoping it was just his friend playing a prank on him or maybe he got lost and forgot his way. Phil felt slight worry at this thought but received no response, maybe...maybe he was ender walking? Or it was a mob? But mobs hadn't been in this mine for years, but either way it didn't matter he could handle it.

Suddenly another noise snapped him out of his thoughts a low popping sound, like a button being pushed. It was close by, too close. He whipped around and could of swore he saw something but it couldn't be real...no..it was his mind again.

Suddenly there was a soft hissing noise that he recognized the sound of and the figure dashed off, he immediately knew what the noise was felt panic no, "Ranboo!" he yelled in alarm trying to warn his friend but was cut off as the TNT went off.

Phil's POV

I heard rocks tumbling and then I blacked out, however I heard somewhere far away a muffled voice crying out, "Phil?! PHIL NO!"

"Wil...bur?", I mumbled out confusedly before I lost consciousness.
