A/N: Sorry, there are a stack of musical theatre references in here, but enjoy
"Have you ever wanted to hear 'Revenge Party' from Mean Girls: The Musical, but a rendition where neither Janis nor Damien can hold a tune?" Qibli asked, as Moon and Kinkajou entered the auditorium, "Because if you go anywhere near Peril and Turtle, that's what you will hear."
"Turtle? Singing?" Kinkajou asked.
"Not well," Qibli shook his head, "And only songs about murder, and only with Peril apparently."
"IT'S A REVENGE PARTY, A PARTY THAT ENDS WITH ENTRAILS ALL OVER THE LAWN!" Peril's voice was definitely far louder than Turtle, however, he was definitely more tuneless. Senior sport had been cancelled in lieu of compulsory auditions for the school musical, and Moon wasn't sure how to feel. She suffered from stage fright and was not very keen to sing, but she also had a strong desire to not do sport, so that was an advantage.
"Do you guys know what you're gonna sing?" Kinkajou asked, as they sat down.
"I'm thinking 'Guns and Ships' from Hamilton," Qibli said, "So I can show off that I can rap 'Guns and Ships'. Although rap is totally unnecessary for Grease, I still want to show them that I can. But then I was also thinking of doing maybe 'One Last Time', so that they can see some of my belting. But then most of Danny's songs in Grease are super upbeat, so maybe 'One Last Time' will be too downtempo. Or I really want to do 'The Room Where It Happened', but y'all are going to mock me about how I pronounce the word 'room'. So, I don't know. But It will almost definitely be from Hamilton."
"I'm doing 'Let's Hear It For The Boy,'" Kinkajou said, "It's got some good high-range parts. What about you, Moon?"
"It has to be a musical song, right?" Moon said, and the other two nodded, "Um...what about 'My Favourite Things', you know from The Sound Of Music." She strongly did not want to be doing this, but she figured on a song that she knew fairly well, and wasn't too hard.
"Can I have all the young gentlemen down here to audition?" their eccentric drama teacher, Magnificent called.
"That's me!" Qibli leapt to his feet, "Wish me luck,"
"Good luck," Moon said, "I'm sure you'll do great."
"Thanks, Moon." They watched all the boys head to the stage, with varying degrees of interest. A few minutes later, Peril came and sat herself down with them.
"Hey, losers," she said cheerfully, and Moon and Kinkajou gave each other looks, wondering if they should be offended.
"Hi, Peril," Kinkajou asked, "How's it going?"
"Yet another week has passed without being noticed by the love of my life," Peril sighed melodramatically. Kinkajou patted her arm sympathetically, while Moon was mostly confused. Is she being serious?
"I'm...sorry. I guess?" she said tentatively. You could never be sure what was going on in Peril's head.
"Of course, you could never imagine the agonies I MUST SUFFER!" Peril dramatised, reminding Moon strongly of Mrs. Bennet from Pride and Prejudice, "You have never experienced unrequited love as have I!"
"I suppose not," Moon agreed, because what else what there to do in this situation, and decided not to ponder the questionable grammar in Peril's sentence, "I mean, I've had a few unrequited crushes before, but I wouldn't say I was ever in love..."
"WELL, I AM HOPELESSY IN LOVE!" Peril wailed, and shot Moon a dirty look, which Moon didn't know what to do with, "YOU wouldn't understand, what with having two boys fighting over you."
