18. Revelations

Isla POV

Understandably after the multiple bomb shells we had dropped on Joe's parents they had a lot of questions and we were more than happy to answer them.
Pat had insisted on us staying with them for the duration of our visit and it wasn't surprising since she hadn't heard from or seen her son for six months.

Currently I was sat on a lounger gently running my hand over my stomach with Pat beside me as we watched Maddie play in the pool with Joe and Sika. The air was filled with the sound of her laughter and Joe just couldn't seem to stop smiling. You could tell how much Joe and Maddie loved each other and it only made me love him even more.

"They have an incredible bond already" Pat smiles "you can see she adores Joe"

"She certainly does" I say "she called him dada the other day"

"Really? And how did Joe feel about that?" She asks

"He cried" I say "he was very overcome, it meant a lot to him to have her say that"

"He always was a softy with a big heart" she chuckles "especially when it came to you, I never understood why he didn't take you with him" she sighs

"What do you mean?" I ask and she turns to look at me with a warm smile

"Do you remember the last time he brought you back to ours instead of taking you home?" She asks and I nod "the next day after you left I found him looking through the job paper, I asked him what he was doing, he looked up at me and said mom I'm givng up football and getting a proper job" she says "I asked him why and he said I want to have enough money to take Isla away from here"

"He did?" I gasp "what made him change his mind?"

"I told him there was another option, that he could stay in college, finish his scholarship and then when he got signed by a team he could take you with him, if you wanted to go" she says "he thought about it for a moment and said you're right mom if I get signed I can give her the best life possible and that's what she deserves"

I glance over a Joe and I can't help but smile, he had wanted to save me from the bad stuff going on in my life, he had been prepared to give everything up just to take care of me. I had know idea how I had gotten so lucky having him in my life but I was truly grateful for him.

"When he got signed to NXT he didn't want to go, he said he didn't want to leave me, but I told him I wanted him to go, I wanted him to chase his dream" I say "I had no idea he wanted to take me away, he never asked me to go"

"Hmm I have a feeling it had something to do with that girl he was involved with" she says "I knew she was no good, she hadn't been interested in him until he got signed and then she was all over him like a cheap suit"

"Well her loss is my gain" I smile "she clearly couldn't see how amazing your son is but I do, I've always known"

"I always know he wouldn't be truly happy unless he was with you" she says "I knew he loved you he didn't need to tell me, his career went from strength to strength but he was miserable becuase he missed you"

"I've missed him too" I say "I promise you I will never leave his side again, he's everything I want and more, Joe, Maddie, the twins, that's my world now my purpose and nothing will change that"

"I know" she says smiling warmly "I'll go make a start on dinner, Sika would you come and help me please" she calls out and he hands Maddie to Joe before getting out of the pool.

Getting up from my lounger I ask over to the pool and sit on the edge before sliding into the water, I move towards Joe who holds out his free arm to me.
When I reach him I wrap my arms around his neck and he wraps his arm around me I kiss him deeply pouring all the love I feel for him into the kiss.

"Mmmm not that I'm complaining but what was that for?" He asks with a smile

"I love you" I say softly and he smiles and furrows his brow at the same time

"I love you too butterfly" he says "is everything ok?"

"Everything is just fine" I smile "just wanted you to know that I love you" I say placing a hand on his chest

"If everything's fine, what's brought this on?" He asks pecking my lips

"Nothing I just wanted to tell you, becuase I do love you and I wanted to make sure you knew that" I say "is it a crime for me to want to tell my man I love him?" I ask

"Not at all" he says "I'm sorry butterfly you just caught me off guard, I love you just as much you know that right?"

"Dada....me" Maddie says turning his face towards her before I have chance to speak

"Yes I love you too babygirl" he says kissing the side of her head, smiling she wraps her arms around his neck and rests her head against his.

"I love all four of you so much" he says "how's our little duo doing?" He asks looking at my stomach

"They are doing good, I can't wait to find out what we are having though" I say running a hand over my bump

"In an ideal world it will be one of each, but something tells me they are boys" he says

"Oh why's that?" I ask and he shrugs

"Just a feeling" he says "either way, as long as they are healthy I don't mind"
