28. Welcome To The World

Joe POV

We had waited as along as we could at home before I brought Isla to the hospital. We had been here some time but the babies didn't seem to want to join the world yet. It was hard for me to see her I  so much pain, knowing it would get worse and I couldn't do anything to make it easier for her.

I was doing what I could rubbing her back, her tummy, even her feet though I'm not sure why I thought that would help. I could tell she was getting tired and fed up and I was doing my best to keep her going.

"Where's the doctor?" She groans "I want him to do a c section I've had enough of this"

"I'm not sure butterfly but he said he'd be back" I say stroking her hair "hopefully it won't be too much longer now"

"I need your children to start moving" she says "I'm tired, I'm uncomfortable and I'm done waiting, my water broke ages ago"

"Alright I'll go find the doctor" I say kissing her forehead but when I go to move she grabs my hand and pulls me back

"Don't leave me on my own" she says "I need you here"

I lift her hand to my lips and kiss it softly, I smile down at her a she shifts herself again trying to find a comfortable position. She stops suddenly and turns onto her back.

"Joe I think I need to push" she says "I feel like I need to push"

"You can't the doctor isn't here" I say panicking

"Alrighty Mrs Anoa'i let's see how you're doing" the doctor says breezing into the room like he hadn't been missing for ages "Right Mrs Anoa'i I need you to start pushing"

Gripping my hand tightly Isla pushes with everything she has in her, its clear she's in a lot of pain but the way she's handling it makes her wonder woman in my eyes.
She lays back on the bed her chest heaving with each breath, she barely has time to catch her breath before she is pushing again.

The room fills with the sound of a baby crying and I'm suddenly overcome with pride and love, tears run down my cheeks as I watch the precious bundle be placed in my arms.

"Here's your daughter" the nurse smiles

"Welcome to the world Willow Grace Anoa'i" I smile "You're more beautiful and perfect then I imagined you'd be"

I'm so lost in my little girl that a barely notice the groans of my wife delivering our little boy, it's not until I hear his cries that I realise what's going on.

I turn around just in time to see the second precious bundle be placed on Isla's chest, she's a mixture of happy, exhausted and tearful as she looks at our son.

"Hello Kai Matthew Anoa'i" she smiles "we've been waiting to meet you"

Isla POV

As I look at our beautiful newborn children all the pain and waiting was completely worth it. I could hardly believe this moment was real, Joe and I welcoming our children into the world.

It's clear that Joe is smitten with our little girl as he hasn't stopped smiling at her. I couldn't wait for Maddie to meet them, I know she is going to be an amazing big sister.

I look away from Kia for moment to find Joe smiling at me, I furrow my brow as I look at him "what?" I ask quietly

"I love you butterfly" he says softly "thank you for our beautiful babies"

"I love you too superstar" I smile "it seems they both got your hair"

"Yeah but this little beauty got your eyes" he smiles "I didn't think it was possible to love anyone else as much as I love you but wow I wasn't prepared for how I'd feel about these two"

"Yeah there is nothing quite like the love you feel for your child" I say trying to hide my worry

"Hey I know what you're thinking and don't" he says "I don't love Maddie any less than these two, she's mine just like they are"

"I know I'm sorry" I sigh "I just can't help but worry"

"I understand" he says kissing my forehead "why don't we have some photos done, you, me and all three kids, like a family photoshoot"

"I'd love that" I smile before yawning

"Get some sleep butterfly you deserve a rest" he says placing Willow into her cot and then taking Kai from me "me and junior here will have some father son time"

I watch him take a seat with Kai in his arms, he looks at him with the same love and pride he looked at Willow with and I can't help but smile. I fall asleep to the sound of him talking softly to our son.
