My stories are all so tragic

***

Time seemed to stop.

All the noise that was blowing into my ears before had been swept away.

With cold eyes, one of the burglars arose from the floor.

Sprawled out on the ground, laying in a pool of blood, was my mother. Her dead eyes stared directly at me. One of the burglars had killed her.

The other with him began to panic, but the one who did the deed kept a cool head.

I was hiding inside the closet and watched it all through the slits. At some point, I stopped breathing and just watched.

And then, all of a sudden, a foggy wind engulfed the room. It was spontaneous, happening without any sort of warning. The wind circled around in the shape of a tornado around one of the burglars.

Almost as quickly as it came, the wind left, and from it, who at the time I thought was the burglar stepped out. But I soon realized that it was not the burglar.

" BOOOOOOMMM!!!!!!!" A man dressed in a tight suit that wrapped all around him shouted as he stepped out of the wind. He crossed his arms over his chest, making a strange pose. The suit he wore was striped white and green, alternating between the colors with every new segment. On his face, the man wore a confident and gaudy grin that stretched all across his cheeks. Green sparks darted and danced across him, going down his feet and ending when they hit the floor.

The burglar who stood beside him looked left and right in confusion, trying to find where his partner went. But he wasn't around. It was as if he had disappeared and in his place, he had been replaced by the strange man. Suddenly then, in a flash, the strange man swung his arm around into the burglar's stomach. He had hit him with such strength, I'm surprised the burglar wasn't blown to bits that instant.

As he threw him across the room, using only the power from his punch, the strange man yelled "BOOM!" once more. After that, the burglar didn't get back up. But I could tell that he wasn't dead on the account of him still breathing. Once it was all over, the strange man turned back around and stared at the closet where I was hiding. At the time, I didn't feel any fear toward him. Through the slits, I saw him shoot me his grin. A green spark then began to flow out from his body. It traveled to a spot in mid-air and started to form a ball shape. As the green energy traveled up, from underneath the fading away suit, I could see the burglar who had disappeared emerge. Once the ball was formed, faster than I could see, it darted away. The burglar, who was unconscious as well, fell to the floor. Soon, the silence that came after that was interrupted by the impeding sounds of police sirens.

Years later

In a warehouse, a horde of escaped prison inmates encircled a man. He wore a tight suit that wrapped all the way around his body, stripped brown and red. This man was the superhero known as Pow. Despite the circumstances, on his face, he wore a blank expression.
