For a job I didn't need, I was exceptionally nervous about the call. It had gone past 11:00, the time Kevin said he would call and I felt my hands get all clammy. I looked out onto my balcony, the LA skyline providing a sense of comfort as I waited. Just before I could fully spiral, my phone started ringing. I don't think I've ever answered a phone so quickly.
"Hello, sorry I'm late to the call. It's so great to be talking to you Harley"
"The pleasure is all mine, Mr Feige. When Scarlett mentioned you were looking for a stunt coordinator I knew I would be perfect. I am currently doing MMA professionally and my old trainer did a lot of work with the Avenger's cast I believe"
"Did you train under Gary Lawrence? We go way back"
"Yes I did actually, I even got his Ferrari after he died. I attribute a lot of my success to that man"
"Wait you're not just any Harley Varon, are you. You're THE undefeated UFC Harley Varon. My apologies for not realising sooner, Scarlett didn't mention it"
"I don't know if she knows to be honest. But I promise despite my busy schedule I'll give 100% to this job"
"Well if Gary trusted you then I do too. You've got the job if you want it, starting next Monday at 9"
"Wow thank you, Mr Fiege. I won't let you down"
"Oh, call me Kevin. I'll see you at your UFC fight too actually"
"I'll look out for you and thank you for the support"
"Looking forward to it. The finalised paperwork and NDAs will be sent to you shortly but that's everything"
The beep from Kevin hanging up was like a final victory bell, a smile creeping onto my face as I clicked on Scarlett's contact information.
