THE BIG FAMILY WAS SLOWLY getting ready for dinner. Today was a special day. A quarter of suppression. All the people in the districts lived in tension, remembering well what had happened in the last quarterly massacre.

- 'Finnick, take Darrel,' Adalie called out as her son began to stir in the kitchen.

Odair went downstairs and carried the baby into the living room so his wife could continue cooking. Annie and Mags usually helped her with the cooking, but the former was asleep and the old lady was knitting socks in her chair. They had a large "family." Adali remembers when she came to this district they were the ones who took her in first. They moved into Finnick's house to help the young mum care for her baby. It's hard to change surroundings, environments, and lives.

- It's time for dinner," Odair's fiancée called out.

She and Finnick were not married yet, just engaged. It seemed they were in no hurry to marry, or were afraid of it, for Adalie was not well-liked in District 4.

- Annie, did you sleep well? - Finnick asked, wiping his son's face. There was silence in reply.

As the 75th games approached, Annie was getting worse. Panic attacks, stress and apathy were increasing. She ate less and hardly spoke at all. Any action could bring her to tears.

- Why didn't you tell me you were out of medication? - He asked sternly.

Thanks to Adali, the girl is given sedative medication like morphling, but you have to stick to the dosage. Sometimes Annie takes too many pills a day, which has a negative effect on her condition.

- I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bother you," the redhead lowered her head, embarrassed.

- Darling, don't worry, we'll order more," Adali slipped her arm across the table. - The main thing is you and your well-being.

For the rest of dinner they chatted about anything but games. Darrel would soon be three months old and the family was thinking about how to celebrate. Finnick had become different since the birth of his son, he had closed himself off from many people and paid attention only to his family. For a long time he thought he was safe, but after 74 Hunger Games he realised he wasn't.

Adalie and her son went upstairs to bathe and go to bed, while the rest of the family stayed downstairs. Annie took care of the dishes and Finnick cleaned the hall. Mags, on the other hand, kept an eye on the television.

- To remind the rebels that even the strongest among them would not overcome the might of the Capitol, this time the Harvest was being held among the existing victors.

There was a scream from Annie that collapsed somewhere near Mags. She was hysterical as she realised the reality of what was happening. The remote control flew into the projector and rattled into the wall. Finnick started smashing the furniture around him.

He couldn't go back, not now.

He had a family.

He would die.

He couldn't tell how long it went on, but it subsided when he heard his son crying. Turning round he noticed a frightened Adali with her son in her arms. Carefully, so as not to scare them away, he walked over to them and wrapped the uncomprehending girl in his arms.

- Looks like we're going back to the arena.
