Third POV

Batman carefully lifts an unconscious Karma into his arms, adjusting him so the boy's head rests on the hero's chest. 

The Dark Knight quickly rushes out of the apartment, the others following behind him. Radioing the cave, he gets in contact with Red Tornado. 

"Tornado, prep the medical wing; Karma Moon has collapsed. He's running a fever, and his breathing is shallow. Have a room ready when we arrive, eta 5 minutes."

"Yes, Batman."

Robin runs alongside his mentor as he lowers Karma into the passenger seat of the Batmobile, reaching over gently to strap him in. 

"Is he going to be okay?"

Batman buckles the boy into the seat, then turns to look at his protégé's concerned expression.

He rests a reassuring hand on Robin's shoulder, nodding. 

"He'll be fine. I'll make sure of it."

The trip to the cave was rushed, and the group easily beat the designated time of five minutes. 

Batman lifts the sickly boy back into his arms and rushes alongside the rest of the present Leaguers to the med bay, the protégés staying behind in the briefing room. Even Red Arrow, who had joined the team for the trip to the cave, was watching the backs of the Leaguers with a worried look. 

Kid Flash collapses dramatically into the couch, form slouched and looking overwhelmed. Superboy, Aqualad, Red Arrow and Robin remain standing as they watch their teammate huff. 

"I just can't believe it. So much has happened. Imagine, our very first official mission and we end up meeting the Winter Moon, who ends up being our age, and then he gets super sick and we end up taking him back to base because he's in such bad shape! And today's only TUESDAY!"

The other's remain quiet; what is there for them to say really? 

Red Arrow surprises them by speaking up. 

"There's no point in worrying about all that now. What's done is done. All we can do is wait and make sure Karma recovers."

The team can't help their shocked looks at the vigilante's words. Even Superboy looks mildly surprised. 

Robin is the first to question their friend on his change of attitude. 

"Not to rub you the wrong way, but why do you care? I mean, you randomly show up at Karma's apartment, and when he got sick, you even came back here with us to make sure he's okay. No offense, but this really isn't like you. Is there something you're not telling us?"

Red Arrow glares at the Boy Wonder, but after a moment, sighs and answers. 

"I guess you have a point. I came back here with you all because I wanted to make sure Karma would be fine. As for why I was at his apartment, well...that was because I suspected he was the meta responsible for the strange bad luck of the local villains. Originally, I went there to see if my suspicious were true, and if so, I was going to ask him to become my partner."

The protégés gasp in shock, and Robin and Kid Flash both voice their incredulity. 

"You were going to ask him to be your partner?! But you wouldn't even join the team!"
