FP found a small one bedroom apartment on the border of the northside and the southside. It's not glamorous, but he thinks it's decent enough to feel like a home.
Once he's completely settled in he invites everyone else over for a small dinner. His guests all generously bring him housewarming gifts.
Fred gifts him a stack of their favorite DVDs growing up to watch whenever he feels the need to unwind. Hermione gives him a dish of his favorite meal to heat up tomorrow. Charles gives him a little something to add to what FP calls the Charlie Corner. Alice hands him a box that she asks not to be opened until they leave. FP respects her request and sets it aside to look at later.
They sit down for dinner and converse amongst themselves.
Hermione passes the bread across the table to Alice. "I'm telling you it's true, according to Frank, Fred locked himself in a pig pin trying to steal Seaside High's mascot right before the playoffs. He hopped over the fence and was never able to come back out. The security guard found him cuddled in the mud with the pig the next day."
"Uncle Freddie, you said stealing was wrong!" Charles exclaims.
"It is. I was just borrowing it, kiddo."
"Without permission?" Hermione smirks.
"I was going to give it back, but clearly there was nothing to give back because I didn't take the pig."
"That's because you failed to."
"Two can play that game," Fred mischievously smiles. "Weren't you and Mary the ones who stole the school van for a joyride?"
"You know that was Alice, not us." Hermione smacks his shoulder.
"Hey, hey, what did I do?" Alice gasps.
"You gave us this precious little face to love," Hermione pinches Charles's cheek.
"Do you have more stories of how you were all friends?" Charles is curious to know what life was like before he was born.
"I do. It's not much of a story, but your-" Fred catches himself before he accidentally blurts out something he's not supposed to. "FP and I spent a summer fixing up what we used to call-" Fred gets joined by Alice and FP to finish his sentence. "The Shaggin' Wagon."
"Gosh, I remember that thing." Hermione says. "It was an ugly thing, but it drove us everywhere."
Fred turns to Charles and wags a finger in his direction. "Don't grow up so fast on us, Chuckie. There will be a time in the future when we might get to fix up an old jalopy together, so you can have it as your first car."
"I'm getting a car?" The boy is already excited.
"I'll get you a motorcycle," FP jokes.
"I don't know about that one," Alice shoots down that idea.
"He'll look cool like I did."
"You had a motorcycle?" Charles's jaw drops.
"Yeah, I even taught your mom how to drive one."
"I want one, too! Can I, mommy? Pretty please!"
"It's dangerous, baby. I don't want you getting hurt."
"I won't! I'll be careful!"
"See what you did?" Alice fondly rolls her eyes at FP.
FP chuckles. "You'll come around to it. Or he'll forget about this conversation by then. It's fine."
"Say, FP, are you busy after work tomorrow?" Fred shifts the conversation.
"Not really why?"
"Well I was thinking maybe you can help me build Charlie's treehouse in the backyard. We have a bit of extra lumber at the site. Figured we could make use of it."
