"E, you have a costume for tonight?" Kimmy asks as we walk to the bus stop. Even though she's a junior we both ride the same bus, because the schools are so close to each other.
"Yeah... But I don't know anyone so I don't think I'm gonna go," I tell my big sister.
"You should dress up as a piece of shit, it suits you." She smirks.
"Ha ha," I fake a laugh in her direction. "I'm going as a dragon."
"Haven't you been a dragon for the past five years?"
"Dragons are superior." I shrug. The bus starts to pull up to the stop, which Kimmy and I haven't reached yet. "Kim, the bus-" I can barely finish my sentence before she's sprinting down the sidewalk. I just barely make it onto the bus, looking for my sister. I find her in a seat next to another girl. A very pretty girl. I shoot her a look and she flips me off. Rolling my eyes, I fall into a seat right behind the driver.
I spend the bus ride talking to Timothy again. I'm honestly not sure why he sat with me after our awkward encounter yesterday, but he seems like a genuinely nice person. If only Kimmy were like that.
When we reach the school, I practically run to my locker, trying to rid myself of my backpack as quickly as possible. When I turn around, I see Max shoving her skateboard into her locker. I decide to walk over to her because I honestly forgot where Mr. Clark's class is.
"Hey," I greet, waving as I walk up to her. "I like your skateboard."
"You ever ridden one?" I shake my head. "I'd teach you, but you need coordination." She smirks.
"I fall one time..."
"It was on your first day, I'm not the only one that noticed," she claims. The two of us start walking towards what I assume is Mr. Clark's class. We hear a lot of commotion happening behind us and I make a face at Max. She shrugs and turns around. When I do the same, I notice the source of the noise.
Dustin and his friends are wearing the most extravagant costumes I've ever seen. They're tan and black and look like... exterminators? I can't help laughing at the way they look. Max follows suit and the two of us try to hide our laughter as she leads me down the hallway.
