isla hamilton
personally, i'd choose swimming with deadly sharks and other animals over shopping with my mom.for those who say "it's not that bad," try shopping with my mother. she's a fashion consultant in new york and she takes her job very seriously.
once, i went to a local food store in pajamas because it was midnight and i come home and she was waiting for me in front of our penthouse door waiting to scold me about looking my best in public.
it's awful.
as much as i like to look my best, i don't care that much. and like i've said before, it's not about what i'm wearing, it's about the energy that i give off.
"how about this one?" my mother asked, holding up a light green dress with ruffles. i shook my head. it would have been so much cuter without the ruffles.
she sighed and went back to looking. i followed her around like a lost puppy dog, "mom? why do i need new dresses? i have plenty."
a sigh left her once more as she turned around and looked at me, "isla, you need a new outfit for this tea party. and a fascinator!" i groaned.
as my mom was looking around at the opposite side of the store, i walked over to a line of dresses. two had immediately caught my eye.
the one was a mixture of a baby blue, brown, black, and white. it had a ruffle hem at the hem, but the ruffles looked cute. i started to look for my size and smiled when i found it. i held it above my arm as i started looking for my size in dress two.
dress two was a more form-fitting dress that was nude with white lace surrounding the entire dress. the dress had a deep neckline which was stunning, but i was a little worried if it was too formal for the tea party, but i grabbed my size anyway.
i walked over to my mom with a small smile, "i'm gonna go try these on." she eyed the dresses and i could tell she was judging them. but she didn't have any dresses in her hands and we've been to almost every store so far.
in the changing room, i put dress two on first. on my body, it fits in all the right places and looked gorgeous around my thigh area. they were a little larger than most of my body, but i liked them.
when i was done trying on the dress and taking pictures to send my friends, i put on dress one.
the moment the dress was on my body i knew. it was the dress. well, it wasn't the dress, but it was the perfect dress for the tea party. it was appropriate and fit my body perfectly. i could already envision my makeup and the jewelry i'd accompany it. obviously, my heels would be black and the same with my fascinator.
i walked out of the dressing room to show my mom the dress. she looked up from her magazine and for a split second i was in awe at the fact everywhere she goes she has a magazine in hand. her purse isn't even big enough for one. "that's beautiful, honey." she smiled.
