jeremiah fisher
summer had always been my favorite season. it was the time of year i got to see my mom fully be herself, especially with her best friend, laurel, around.laurel has two kids. a son, steven. and a daughter, isabel, but we always call her belly. they've been in our lives forever and i've always had a special connection with the two of them.
especially belly.
but at the same time, summer is my favorite season because i get to see her.
isla hamilton. my forever best friend. sorry bells.
isla knows who she is. she's confident, caring, smart, and overall an amazing person. i love hanging around her as much as i can.
with the belly, steven, and laurel coming to town every summer, i manage to only spend a few weeks with her out of the three months in summer. thankfully, she has her other friends. i'm hoping this summer changes so we can spend more time together.
isla had also been my first love. i had always been in love with her, but she never noticed me like that. it was okay though, especially because it gave belly and i something to gossip about.
belly had always been into conrad. yeah, there were a few times i wished she looked my way instead of my perfect brother's, but there was nothing i could do about it.
besides, i had my crush on isla too. okay, so i had a crush on two people. sue me.
it's not like i meant for it to happen, and besides, it's blandly innocent.
getting out of my thoughts, i walked downstairs and impatiently looked outside. how long does it take to get to cousins from philadelphia? it couldn't be that long.
thankfully, not long after i heard a honk signaling that they had arrived and needed help with bags. I looked upstairs and noticed that my mom hadn't come down from when she went to take a nap. that's weird, she always greets everyone when they arrive.
taking the opportunity to be the first one to greet everyone, i ran outside. "what's up?" i smiled widely. i've missed them all so much.
laurel was the first to get out of the car, "hi! oh my god." she opened her hands up and prepared to hug me, so i started to run over to her. "hello! long time no see." hugging everyone when they first got here was always one of my favorite things. "it's good to see you." laurel smiled.
then steven got out, he and i brought each other into a huge hug and started laughing as we patted each other's backs. steven started swaying us around, and i followed him laughing.
my mom and laurel were hugging just as long as steven and i was and i couldn't hold back a smile.
"you've been going to the gym bro?" steven asked touching my abs. i laughed and playfully hit him. as i turned my head, that's when i saw her.
