isla hamilton
most girls go all out for the bonfire. it's been a tradition for as long as i've been attending.with jeremiah attending as well, i knew i had to look decent and somewhat elegant. usually, when i'm around him, i'm more laid back about what i wear and he's the same; always shirtless. not that i'm complaining. but this summer feels different for some reason. even with the short amount of time we spent together earlier, i could already tell.
the way his eyes trailed around isabel's new and mature body. it was understandable, she was gorgeous, but doesn't he realize she's been in love with conrad for like a million years?
not to sound like a whiny bitch, but why couldn't he just notice me. i mean... i'm literally right in front of him.
no like seriously. i'm driving my bike over to the beach and he's in his car behind me with steven and conrad. jeremiah honked his horn four times and i began to slow down with a smile on my face.
whenever he would stop by my house over the summers, he would always honk four times. whether susannah was driving or someone else was, it was always four times.
once for each letter of my name.
"wanna hitch a ride, isles?" jere asked, his eyes steady on the road. occasionally his eyes met mine, but it wasn't for long.
i looked out into the distance, the beach where we were all headed wasn't too far. and besides, i could use the exercise. "nah i'm good. i will take you up on that offer on our way back though."
jeremiah faked a gasp and put a hand over his heart. steven buckled up quite quickly as the boy began to turn his attention to me instead of the road. "isla fleur hamilton! do not tell me you're drinking tonight."
"well jeremiah sue fisher! i will be!" i grinned. noticing he began to drift i chimed in, "jere, eyes on the road big boy."
his eyes immediately went to the road, "i thought we discussed never to talk about my nickname, isla."
i laughed, "i said the same thing, jeremiah."
"why not talk about yours, isla? you have a pretty middle name. unlike sue over here." steven quipped, leaning forward to slap jere on his shoulders.
jeremiah rolled his eyes and i could see a faint smile on conrad's face. from what jere had mentioned earlier, conrad had changed a lot over the past couple of weeks. like all of a sudden he just began to melt slowly away and then fully evaporated.
"hey, guys? where's belly?" i asked.
conrad replied just before jeremiah could, "at home. with our moms."
i furrowed my eyebrows, but i don't think any of them were paying attention to my facial reactions, "she's almost sixteen right?" they nodded, "she should be here."
