Joe POV
"How you feeling." I uttered to Todd watching his face turn towards mine.
"I'll be okay when we get there." He replied as he gasped when we drove over a bump."
"Sorry ill go slower."
I focused my eyes on the trees that swiftly passed us. I watched them as there braches reached out like hands. I saw the birds delicately swoop past the car gliding in the air forming a v shape. The warm sun stroked my right cheek soothing and relaxing my face.
"You see that?" I whispered nugging Todd and pointing to a man swnging his young child around. Throwing her as her sweet giggles inbed into your heart.
"Beautiful, if only life was the way a child saw it eh?" Todd smiled swinging his keys in his hands.
I heard a voice on the radio. A muffled sound.
"Shhh...turn it up." Todd insisted.
I turned it up gradually.
"Its been 4 Years since the 012 attack on London where over 1 million people lost their lives, there has been riots in the east and west of England and in other areas of Europe. The UTC still are currently hiding the location of the Unhuman Machine Intelligence known as the UMI or to many known as the Deceiver's. Many death threats and killings have been reported today as the British still dig deeper to find the machines who killed there friends and loved ones. Riots have been held where Captain Rosa Sumner was laid to rest 4 years ago in the winter. Safety camps are being held for people who have been evacuated or cannot enter their homes. All have been told to stay in doors and to lock and boarder all windows and doors. All boarders are closed this weekend, so no planes can be flown in or out of Europe. Police have arrested over 700 people today in London and the armed forces are on stand. This is Laura Jenkins on NYC News.
"I'm just glad those things where gone before the UTC brought them into the US." Todd says as he turns down the radio and starts playing with his collar."
"I can't even believe, they haven't told anyone what happened."
"Well there hiding something Todd, I can tell you that."
"Rosa Sumner was behind it all." Todd relied
"Todd." I smirked
"She was a terminally ill woman...she just wanted to save herself and other people, she did what she thought was right."
"Yep that's what I told myself at first, but when you see all those people dying traumatic deaths, those scattered bodies dumped on the ground like rubbish that no one cares about and spilt human sacred blood staining the gravel that's beneath your very feet, all you feel is hatred towards that woman." he said gritting his teeth.
"Well mate, you where lucky to get out of England when you could, just unfortunate for those unlucky people, makes me wonder what is there to life other then death."
"Nothing...we came here, and we took over this earth, theres nothing to life, but pain. You have felt happiness on this earth, well I haven't. Even when you found me Joe....and you and Tee took me in like family, I wasn't happy...I had love and peace for the first time but..." He shook his head and looked out the window next to him
"I wasn't happy, I was rotting inside, that world out there, its a prison."
He pointed to the sky and smiled
"Some day I want to go up there...maybe Mars maybe Jupiter maybe there's people up there just like us Joe, maybe their perfect. My social worker she used to tell me, we are dust James. Just like the dust that lays dormant, lifeless under our bed. We are nothing ready to turn into..."
"Nothing," I replyed
"Exactly." he continued chuckling angrily clapping his hands slowly.
"Any way Joe, were here."
I slowly got out the car meditating on what he had told me.
I walked over to the crime scene. It was a dark black alley, with the name death printed and glued onto it. The walls where marked with deep signs. Blood just stained onto the rocks and bricks as a chill breezed aired the smell of coldness and murder. There were tools scattered like playing cards as the yellow caution banner whistled and danced in the wind. The darkness fell onto the crime scene and the smoky faint white chalk line unevenly drawn was staring at me deeply. The wind then howled and blew white sheets of paper from under a hiding rock. The paper decorated with smudged chalk drawings. The uneasy sharp gravel flew up as if it was defying gravity and it flew and travelled where the wind took it.
I picked up the drawings handing them to Todd as he examined the wall of rock.
I continued to look around the area.
"Can you hear that." Todd said to me looking around curiously.
"No what I replied."
He never answered and carried on observing the scene.
"Yes." Todd uttered looking at his hand.
"What." he said again staring into space.
"Todd stop messing." I laughed walking over to him and nudging his arm."
He remained silent.
The wind ruffled through his hair and the world stood still and the wind stopped. The air became sharp and felt cold like thin cut ice.
Nothing was to be heard but my heart...thumping loudly.
Thumping like a loud drum
I stood still looking at Todd, looking into his eyes, they looked lost. His face turned pale, and his eyes widened. My stomach rolled.
"Todd?" I whispered taking a step back.
Again the world was silent and the darkness sunk into our body's and became us....
"AAAHHH." Todd's screamed pulling out his hair running round the alley hectically like a manic.
"TODD!" I grabbed him as he tried to pull out of the position.
"AHHH" his deep bellow echo through out the hair alarming all corner of the globe.
"JAMES." I pulled him to the ground. MY heart thumping. His voice lowering and his head drooping...
