The door closed with a quiet thud and loud creak causing Avis to cringe. The apartment living room was dark, but the stove lamp was still onilluminating the kitchen. Now dressed in her civies Avis let her duffle bagcontaining her hero suit drop to the ground.
'Odette must be asleep.' The girl thought to herself seeing no sign ofher "Aunt" anywhere. opening therefrigerator, she found a plate with garlic salted chicken, and mashed potatoes on it, andeverything doused in gravy. Along with the plate, there was anote written on it: "Hope your mission went well. I made your favorite, beready to get up for school tomorrow. Love ~ O <3" Avis spat out her water as the microwavebeeped signaling her food was ready.
"SHOOT! I forgot about tomorrow!" the hero internally groaned, pulling the hot plate out of the microwave, and quickly setting it down as it started to burn her fingers. While her pain receptors were off, she could still get hurt.
Avis took her time eating, letting the time drag from 12:30 a.m. to 1:45 a.m.
Putting her plate in the dishwasher and grabbing the bottle of water, the teen collected her bag and went to her room, being careful to step lightly when passing her Aunt's room. The moment that Avis made it to her darkened bedroom and her door was shut, she flopped down face first on her bed. She gave a soft groan of exhaustion into her pillow, flipping over onto her back and looking out the window that was beside her bed. She had a view of the rooftops and the highway to Gotham with how high up she was. But most importantly she had a clear view of the sky. The moon and stars were bright tonight and Avis couldn't help but find some comfort as she searched for the different constellations.
After locating Corona Borealis her eyes began to grow heavy. Avis didn't have the strength to change, so she simply rolled over her eyes starting to close as she read the blinding red digits on her clock.
'2:07 a.m.'
God was she going to be tired in the morning.
