Love Before Loyalty

Chapter 4

“Shhh… It’s okay.” Carlisle consoled me. After I calmed down a bit, he asked me, “Do you mind if ask the name of your father?” I nodded and replied, “Joham.”

I already knew that he was familiar to the name thanks to my stepbrother, Nahuel. I felt Carlisle stiffen around me. But before he could respond, the door downstairs opened, and I caught a whiff of 4 new scents. Renesmee and 3 wolves.

Carlisle let go of me and gave me a faint smile before saying, “Now, lets go introduce you to the rest of the family.” I nodded and followed after him to the living room.

When we entered, on the couch sat a boy and a girl, and on the love seat, Renesmee cuddling with another boy, whom I assume is Jacob. They all stared at me weirdly except Renesmee who smiled at me warmly at me.

“Jacob, Seth, Leah, this is Leelyn. She is the newest member of our family.” Carlisle introduced me. I waved shyly at them. The boy whom I assume is Seth approached me, offering is hand. “Hey, I’m Seth. You’re like Renesmee right? Nice to meet you!” I looked up and my eyes connected with his.

His eyes widen in surprise while I just looked at him confused. Edward who had just set foot in the room started laughing, “What a coincidence.” He laughed shaking his head. I looked at Edward questionably and he just shrugged while smirking.

I turned back to look at Seth whose mouth was slightly parted with his hand still up, frozen. I examined him. He was cute. Hmmm…. Wait a sec, what am I doing? Stay Focused!

I took his hand and shook it, which managed to snap him out of his phase. To avoid the situation from becoming awkward, I spoke up, “Hey Seth, Yes I’m like Renesmee and it’s nice to meet you too.” I smiled up at him. I had this feeling at the bottom of my stomach.  Wait, why am I nervous? Why do I WANT him to like me? What’s wrong with me? This has never, and I mean NEVER happened to me before!

“Cool, I- err- I- well – er- I....” he trailed off. I laughed at how cute he looked, scratching the back of his next, not knowing what to say. Wait, that wasn’t a laugh, THAT WAS A GIGGLE! Okay, something is seriously wrong with me. In my 456 year, I have never ever giggled. Oh God.

“So err…,” he tried again, while leading me to a different empty couch, “Where are you err from?” he asked as we sat down.

“Olongo Island in the Philippines.” I replied. “Philippines in asia? Cool! I’ve always wanted to go there! They say the beaches are awesome!” he said sounding really excited. You could see his eyes shine. I smiled at his excitement and replied, “You could say that.”

We talked about a lot, and I was really happy, I just sorta seemed to like talking with Seth. As we talked, the other Cullens started streaming into the room, having their own conversations. One of the conversations caught my attention. It was Edward and Bella.

“Seth imprinted.” Edward whispered in her ear really lowly that only I, after training for all my life can hear.

“Really, on Leelyn?” Bella replied excitedly.

“Yeah, Its nice, Seth deserves it.” Edward replied.

I didn’t catch anything else as I went back to my conversation with Seth. Curious as to what imprint meant, I asked Seth, “Seth, What’s imprinting?”

At that question, everyone in the room froze. Seth looked at me eyes wide before replying, “Where did you here that word?”

“Edward was talking to Bella and mentioned that you imprinted on me.” I responded suspiciously. Almost the whole room gasped.

I sensed this was a sensitive topic, I didn’t want to pry, but they mentioned my name, I was curious. “Erm, you wanna go out to the river and tell me about it?” I asked.

Seth seemed unsure and nervous but responded, “Su-sure.” Out of the corner of my eyes, I could see Jacob give him a thumbs up and an encouraging smile.

With that we stood up and made our way to the lake
