It's the morning after the last, and I'm sat in Rear Admiral Cain's office since he called me out to speak with me.
He soon returns with Maverick beside him. I figured this can't be good since both are here, and I was right.
"Hello Lt. Bradshaw and Captain Mitchell." He takes his seat behind his desk while we face him. We both nod in unison and he takes this as a sign to begin. "I can only begin to image what you both must be feeling right now," He refers to Tom's sudden death. "Take some time, whatever you need." I can agree, I am very upset with what happened to Kazansky but there's no way I'm taking any time off, I'm going on this mission. Just as I'm about to voice my opinion, Maverick speaks. "I appreciate that sir but there is no time because of the Mission-" I cut him off. "Sir we really do appreciate your concern but, but I really do need to go on this mission." I told him. "Oh I'll be taking on the training from here, and Lt. Bradshaw, we saw how much this took a toll on you, this left us very concerned as to wether or not you were fit for this mission and we decided you'd be better off taking some time off the mourn your loss." He announces. There was a long period of silence as I tried to comprehend what he had just said. "Sir..." I give him a confused look as to what he had just said. "Lt. you and I both know that you'd be better off not completing this mission." He says. "Sir they're not ready." Maverick tries to tell Admiral. "Well it was your job to get them ready." Admiral replies. I roll my eyes at how ridiculous this situation is. "Sir they have to believe, that this mission can be flown." A concerned face was plastered on maverick's face. "Yeah and all you've managed to do is tech them that they can't." Admiral looked like he wasn't about to change his mind anytime soon. "Sir you know that I'm one of the best pilots in top gun-" I begin but I'm shortly cut off. "That's it...your both grounded end of." I stare at him in disbelief. "Why me! Why not my brother!?" I stand up off my chair. "He grew up with Kazansky as well, if anything this took a worse toll on him than it did me, but no...we have to keep Bradley in because he's better out of the two! Is that why I'm grounded and he's not?" I rant on with anger filling inside of me. Before admiral could reply with some stupid excuse, I stormed out of the room slamming the door behind me.
I decided that I would go to Penny's to go talk to her, because she always seems to understand me, more than anyone.
I get to her house knocking on the door, and around a few seconds later she opened the door. "Hey are you ok, I heard what happened?" She embraced me in a hug. "I'm sorry." She whispered in my ear. "What are you gonna do?" She asked, but the truth was, I had absolutely nothing to do. My whole life revolves around flying and I'm about to now miss the biggest mission of my life.
"What choice do I have." I finally speak. "Your young, you'll find your way back to flying, just remember it's just this mission." She reassures me. "I know but this could really help boost my career and now im stuck here while my brother is able to fight, it's just so unfair." I sigh. "Well if it's not fair do something about it..." she advised. "Pete is on his way now." Just then the door opens. "Welp speak of the devil." She chuckles. "Penny, can you come outside quickly." He turns heading back for the door Penny now closely following. So I was left alone with my thoughts.

It's now the next morning, and I'm still feel lifeless, it's like my whole world has been taken away from me, I have no structure to my life anymore and I hated it. I'm sat in the kitchen having a coffee when my phone buzzed. My eyes dart towards it to see if it's admiral calling me back to the mission but to my surprise it was Pete. He had texted me to call him. So I did as asked.
"Britney I have a way we can get back into the mission." He told me but I still wasn't onboard yet, I have to hear what it is first, because believe me this guy has some crazy ideas when it comes to these things. "I'm listening."
"So I want to complete the course, in under 2 minutes, I know you can do it as well, I know what your capable of."
" Are you crazy!" The only time I've ever completed it, I did it in 5 minutes and your asking me to do it in 2, that's not even half the time!" I tell him. "Do you want to go on this mission or not?" He pushes for a quick answer from me, but it wasn't that easy, I could die from this.
"I'm in." I finally reply. "Ok great, meet me by base at 0900 on the dot." He informs me. "Alright." I hang up going to get myself ready.
Me and Maverick are going to get back into this mission even if it takes us to the breaking point. Mark my word.
A/n- first off I wanna say I'm so sorry for being once again inconsistent with updating this book, I have recently been so busy and have just about found the time to fit in this quick chapter (which is more of a filler chapter so that's why it's so short)
Next chapter will be out by early next week x
