"Right first day, how you feeling?" My new boss said, this is my first day working in the newsroom and I have to interview a James Taylor he's the blues's right winger. He has asked to do the interview in his home as he feels more comfortable there. "Yes sir, I'm just kind of nervous, like if I want to be taken seriously then I need to make a good impression", "Ms Dawson, you may not have a lot of experience but I can tell your going to be great, your nervousness just shows me how much this opportunity means to you", "it means the world, thank you for putting your trust in me".

I ran to my office, grabbed my tape recorder and notebook before running out to my Mitsubishi L200 truck in black to head off to a small town house on the outskirts of the city. I knock on the door and I'm immediately greeted by a gorgeous brunette haired women wearing a Manchester United shirt, "good afternoon, I'm here to interview Mr Taylor on behalf of St.Louis newspapers", "of course my husband is just setting up, god saying husband feels weird we've only been married a month", "aww, belated congratulations", "thank you, would you like to come in?" I nodded an we walked through the door and down a corridor before we stopped in the kitchen, where I saw James sat at the dining room table with a chair on the other side "good afternoon I'm abby Dawson, I'm here to interview you on behalf of St.Louis newspapers" I say extending my hand for him to shake which he did, "its nice to meet you Ms Dawson, I've heard us boys will be seeing a lot more of you now", "that's the hope, just have to prove to the boss I'm ready", "well let me put your knowledge to the test" he gestured for me to sit down.

"Do you mind if I record this just for my own reference and anything you want scrapped will be immediately", "that's fine, to be honest I'm a pretty open book", "ok lets get started (turn the tape recorder on). Well how have you found it settling into the team from AHL to NHL?", "honestly it's been great, I've made a couple of friends, mainly Liam Archer as he's been on the team for a year now so still fairly new. The staff and coaches are so supportive, as I've got a young child they try and make it so I don't miss too much of his life." "What's been the best piece of advice given to you either from a coach or a player from the team?" He smirked at this question "well, again it has to be Liam he told me to 'never touch the goalie and you might not get your head smashed it' no I'm joking kind of, all the lads have given me really good advice whether that be personal or professional."

"How do you cope with disappointment, as I'm sorry to bring up but you were all lined up a spot on the blues last season when that didn't happen", "well off record (I nodded and noted the time to cut out) I didn't cope well, my son was 1 and I was stressing over how I was going to provide for my now wife and Brett, but on record (again noted the time) disappointment is just part of the game, its something I have to get used to so its good to get it out the way now" after a few more questions with mixed expressions I finally rounded up with, "any advice to anyone in the position you were in last year or even now?", "I would say if you were in my shoes last season facing disappointment, just remember there are better days ahead and to never give up on something you truly want. And as for now and finally having my dreams fall into place, I would just say savour every moment as you've truly deceived this and worked hard for it."

"Well thank you for your time Mr Taylor (I said as I turned off the recorder and packed it in my handbag with the note pad)", "thank you Ms Dawson" then in walks his wife "why don't you stay for dinner, its already 6pm?", "its fine thank you, Mrs Taylor, I wouldn't want to put you out", "my wife wouldn't of offered if it would be a problem", "ok, if you insist, but now I'm out of a professional capacity, please call me Abby", "only if you call us Sharon and James as well", "deal".

James went and got Brett from the babysitter as me and Sharon get cracking on dinner, were making apparently a family favourite 'fancy Mac 'n' cheese', which is Mac 'n' cheese with salmon and tater tots. "So Abby, not to sound rude but your not from around here are you?", "no, I was born and raised in Chelsea in London", "honey, we got ourselves a posh friend here", Sharon called to James who just came into the kitchen with Brett "how posh we talking?", "mega posh, almost to posh for fancy Mac 'n' cheese", "no, I used to be posh as you say, but I left that life to become me", "well I admire that but I still want deets, anyway Abby this is a little nightmare Brett, Brett say hi to Abby sweetie", he gave me this adorable wave as I got down to his height, "your so pretty", "why thank you handsome", "mummy says I get that from daddy", "well I think you get that from both your parents".

"Ok dinners up", we all gather around the table said grace and then dug in, its so nice to be around a normal family, the one I've craved my entire existence. "So Abby, why did you really move", "its okay if you don't want to sometimes Sharon can get..." "no, is fine, but what I say has to stay in this room. (They nodded so I continued) I'm an only child and my parents believed in arranged marriages, but in these marriages the women must not speak unless spoken to, and most certainly can't leave the house alone. I was never allowed an education so the maids used to teach me in my ladylike classes I had daily. I know this sounds bratty but no matter how much money my parents threw at me, I just knew it couldn't be my life, I needed to do things my self. So my 18th birthday I met the man I was to marry and that finalised my decision, I left home and never returned, I still have all my trust fund minus money for flights and a home, but I won't dip into it unless I'm desperate. It's a fairly larger trust fund so I donated a million to 10 of the charities closet to my heart, and now I'm here, trying to be an adult in an unfamiliar country." My eyes ad teared up but I broke when Sharon brought me into a hug, "sweetie, you can always come to us if you need anything", "thank you, do you know you guys are the first friends I've ever had". We quickly moved into happier stories from childhoods before I called it a night a 10 o'clock and drove home.
