ever since those words came out of Arlo's mouth, John thought that he would hate Arlo forever, and that they would never get along.
However, when John and Arlo are forced to work together, things begin to change between them.
Arlo was scared that John would refuse to fight back if Spectre attacked, he needed to be there to protect him.
'But how?' Arlo pondered.
John was still upset with him and it was obvious that the boy would avoid him. How would Arlo be able to protect John if he refused to be around him?
'I'll just have to stick close to him, if he likes it or not.'

After Blyke had announced that the Safe House would not be splitting up, a lot of members of the club seemed shocked and disappointed about the sudden decision.
Despite their reactions, Remi knew that this was the right choice. If Arlo was worried about something then so was she.
John watched Arlo's expressions change from anxious to relieved.
'He's looked as nervous as when he had to deal with me..'
John frowned, shifting his gaze towards something else. He still felt guilty over everything he had done, there was no way he wouldn't. John felt his stomach turn when he remembered the sight Arlo and the other royal's being brutally beaten by none other than himself.
It pained him to remember, but he had no time to regret right now. John needed to focus on the reason he was here, it was to keep an eye on Remi and Blyke.
Even with that in mind, his thoughts strayed towards Arlo and the guilt he felt. He just couldn't stop thinking about the argument they had yesterday. John wished he had never said anything, they were finally getting along and he ruined everything.
'There's no way we could ever be anything more than enemies...'
'but...'
John felt his face heat up when he recalled Arlo embracing him and comforting him during their argument. Butterflies swarmed in his stomach as he remembered the warmth of Arlo's body and the tension between them.
'Why do I feel like this..?'
John's gold eyes widened in realization and his face turned bright red.
'There's no way.'
He finally realized that he had caught feelings for Arlo, which was something he was barely willing to accept.
The only reason he came to that conclusion was due to his reactions and thoughts when the blond held him or said something that made his face heat up.
