Chino Hills' newcomers make an immediate impact on the court
by Mikael Wiessler | Posted September 27th, 2015

The Chino Hills varsity girls and boys team played their first home game last Friday, and to say they surpassed expectations would be an understatement. The varsity girls team won their game against the visiting Orange Vista team by 7 points. The varsity boys team, however, demolished Orange Vista's team by a whopping 34 points.

It appears that there is a dynasty going on at Chino Hills. While Willa Rosario and Lonzo Ball continue to show out during their final season at Chino Hills, it's their younger siblings that have taken the spotlight.

Winona Rosario, the younger of the Rosario daughters, did not only hit the game-sealing three against Orange Vista, she led scoring amongst both teams with an efficient 24 points on 5 made threes. The younger Rosario dropped 6 assists and picked up 8 boards despite being undersized compared to Orange Vista. Willa Rosario had an efficient 21/8/4 and sophomore Lizette Okungwu dropped 17 points on 68% FG.

The varsity boys look to be title favourites this year. Freshman Lamelo Ball came off the bench, scoring an impactful 23 points on 57% shooting. His brothers scored a combined 54 points and led the team to their 34-point win.

Winona Rosario and Lamelo Ball bring excitement to Chino Hills. The freshmen certainly will keep Chino Hills on the map as they develop into stars. As an avid watcher of high school basketball, the youngest Rosario and Ball definitely are players to watch.
