Nuclear Fallout: One Year After the Rosario/Ball Cheating Scandal
by Summer Keaton | Posted June 29th, 2024
One year ago today, Skyla Morrison, 24, of the R&B duo Jupiter's Angels, told the public the long-awaited answer as to why her and her then-fiance, Lamelo Ball, 23, had (seemingly) spontaneously thrown off their wedding mere weeks before the ceremony. In an interview with Telescopic Magazine, Morrison was asked the question of what had happened to her and Ball. That was when the world was absolutely taken by storm. Morrison stated, "He cheated on me and I couldn't move past that." To make matter worse, she added, "The affair he had with the other woman was more than physical. He told me it was emotional ... he had fallen in love with someone else while I carried his ring."

The woman was kept a mystery until Skyla's younger sister, Selina, accidentally name-dropped ESPN analyst Winona Ivy during a public outing. While there is still so little known about the Rosario/Ball affair, the repercussions of this event has made its presence known. Here is an update on all the key players of the Rosario-Ball scandal.

SKYLA MORRISON
Skyla Morrison shows that cosmic karma is real. As of late, the 24-year-old Charlotte native has been breaking record after record with her latest music. Jupiter's Angels' latest release, "Should've Known", which features pop-princess Maevis Song, debuted at #1 on the Billboard Charts and stayed in the top 10 for 23 weeks straight. Their second studio album, Love Letters from the Grave, is highly anticipated and drops on January 4th. The Morrisons have scooped a couple Grammys and award for their excellence in music. All in all, Skyla Morrison has been thriving in the industry and continues to live her life unapologetically.

LAMELO BALL
The guard entered his fourth season in the NBA with a bang. He averaged 24.2 points on an efficient 54% FG on top of a career-high 9.7 assists per game and 8.7 rebounds per game. The youngest Ball led the Hornets to a 53-28 record which landed them the four seed. The Hornets would make it to the Eastern semifinals before falling to the reigning conference champions Nets in a nail-biting 7-game series. He received his third All-Star selection and earned an All-NBA Second Team selection. Off-court, however, Ball has ignored any and all comments regarding the scandal. It seems the 23-year-old guard has buried the affair.

WINONA ROSARIO
Complete radio silence. No one has heard from the 24-year-old analyst in nearly a year, though we are reassured that she is alive. The ESPN analyst for college basketball and primarily the Hornets took an indefinite hiatus and there are no signs of her comeback soon.

Interestingly enough, Morrison and Ball were seen together recently. Perhaps the couple is making their amends and we'll finally see the August wedding Morrison has been dreaming of.
