Chapter 1: The Kiss

"Dad, I really don't feel like going to school today. I'm so sick of seeing Kinn's face," reklamo ko kay Dad habang tinulungan ko siyang mag-impake sa mga gamit niya.

Dad look at my exhausted reaction and pats my shoulder. "You have to, Dani," aniya. He sighed before he turned on the TV.

Nasira kaagad ang mood ko nang makita ko ang advertisement 'nanaman' ng tatay ni Mackenzie. Her dad is a candidate for Mayor and obviously her Dad's using her modeling career para mangampanya dito.

My dad is working under him since they were closed friends and I get it, pero minsan hindi ko alam kung saan nagmana itong si Kinn eh. She has a horrible and boring personality yet everyone likes her.

My parents are divorced and yung Mom ko naman ay may ibang pamilya na. It's too hard for me to accept everything, but I don't really have guts to face her after what she did to us.

"Hi, it's Kinn here-" Kinuha ko ang remote at pinatay ang TV kasi nagpop-out na naman ang mukha ni Kinn sa harap ko. Sarap talaga niyang ibalibag.

"I'm leaving for a couple of weeks and I'll have your cousin visit you here. I don't have to look out on you because you're already an adult, Danielle."

I clench my fist hearing that but eventually nod. "Your brother will not be home for the mean time. Take care of yourself here habang wala ako-"

"Since when are you really home, Dad? You are never here. I had to be independent"

Tinigil niya ang pag-ayos sa tie niya bago ako tiningnan mula sa salamin. "What do you want? State it."

"I want a parent who looks out on me."

He motioned his hand to one of his guys. Tumakbo yung secretary niya patungo sa kanya. "How many maids does Dani have?"

"Five of them, Sir."

"How many nutritionists does Dani have?"

"Three, Sir."

Humarap sa'kin si Dad. "Saan ako nagkulang, Danielle!" He shouted that everyone around here flinched except me.

I just ignored him at naglakad patungo sa kwarto ko. I put on a messy bun bago humarap sa salamin. I fucking hate everyone in this family. Wala nang matinong tao dito.

"Miss Dani, hindi ka po ba magpapahatid?" I heard the maid outside my room after knocking.

"No!" I shouted at narinig ko ang yabag niya papalayo.

Umupo muna ako sa kama at iniisa-isang tingin ang mga iba't-ibang klaseng gitara na nasa harap ko. My fingers are itching to play it again, pero my Dad will never allow me to.

I'm a senior student in our school, my band got disbanded because the principal claimed that there are lack of space and many 'useful' students will use it.

But I know behind all of that is Kinn's fault. She's so desperate to call it a hangout room for her stupid council friends and of course for her silly photographs. I know Kinn's a fan of making cinematic video and I even overhear from her friends that she might take Fine Arts majoring in cinema.

Sounds like she has it all.

I grab my car keys at bumaba na sa hagdan. I saw Dad calling someone while shaking his head. When he saw me, binaba niya ang phone. "Don't drive recklessly or I'll have you grounded. I am watching you closely Danielle!"

I ignored him and continue walking. I saw my black jeep and I immediately hop in and drive all the way to my school. I sighed nang maabutan ko ang red light.

This is pissing me off.

I glance at my side and saw a child sticking his tongue of me, and I gave him a middle finger and he cried and then poke his Mom.
