His younger self (specifically at 4 because that an important age in the Mandela Catalogue story 🙃) had some kind of friendly relationship between him and The Intruder. He would let The Intruder in through his window as a kid after his parents put him to bed. He would also kinda just stash him in the closet or under his bed. And Intruder would just hang out with him. Intruder wasn't supposed to be friendly but he was anyway. He was also very protective over Mark. Mark only lost and forgot about The Intruder at age 6 because his parents came in while Intruder was hanging out with Mark. Causing his parents to call the police or somethin' and Intruder kinda ran away and never showed up after that. Causing Mark to forget about him and later knowing how bad that could have been if Intruder wasn't that friendly to him. Mark is still very traumatized from knowing this, always wondering how he's alive and whatnot. Intruder, on the other hand, did not forget about little Mark, but did not recognize the older (current) one. So they became strangers to each other again.

(Claustrophobia = Fear of tight or enclosed spaces)
(Taphophobia = Fear of being buried alive)
(Auto/Monophobia = Fear of being alone)
