We had no trouble in finding our room. It was on the 6th story that we went into our room and saw it was a really cool looking place. It had a living room, and two bedrooms. A nice little kitchen and small table.

"Maybe Louise and mom are in the room next to ours" Louis said. I was about to go out and check, but I saw that our hotel room was connected to the room next to ours.

"Maybe they're in here" I suggested, and having open the door, we looked in. I was right. This was definitely another hotel room. And from the personal belongings around, Louis said he'd recognized them as his sister's and mom's. But oddly enough they weren't here.

"Well I didn't see their car in the parking lot, so maybe they're out having a small dinner and they'll be back for the party" I said to Louis. I had to say this cause I was noticing he was getting a bit paranoid at not seeing his sister around. He and her had always been close back home, so I could understand his worry.

He nodded slowly "y-yeah. You're right"

As we headed back into our room, Michael stretched and yawned "well i don't know about you guys, but I'm tried from all that walking. We should probably get some rest before the party tonight"

And it was no surprise we were tired too. I took the couch bed and Michael and Logan took the bedrooms. After getting comfortable, I fell fast asleep. But even though I was cold from walking in the brisk autumn evening air, I still felt cold under this pull out bed's blankets. It felt weird.

I was awoken softly by the soft sounds someone moving in the room. At first I thought it was Michael or Louis, until I heard humming from a woman's voice. I blinked and turned around in the bed. There in the kitchen, cleaning out the garbage, was a maid! She must've thought no one was here and began cleaning.

I got up from the bed and put on my gangster costume hat and made myself known. "Excuse me ma'am. This room is occupied."

She blinked and looked at me with sudden surprise. Before I could calmly explain to her that she must have the wrong room or something, she quickly grabbed the garbage and wheeled her cart outside as fast as she could go. If ever I saw such shock in a human face it was then.

I stood there, confused out of my mind. Then it suddenly came to me. My costume! The story of the hotel fire! She must've thought I was a ghost from that 1920s party tragedy that Louis told us! I laughed a little and went to the doorway to call her back and apologize for the misunderstanding, but she had left. There was no one else in the hallway.

I closed the door again and when I turned, I saw that the windows outside revealed a pitch black sky with a harvest moon in space. I suddenly gasped and checked the time on the stove clock. 9:30 pm. Louise's would start in 30 minutes! I quickly got Michael and Louis out of bed, and after brushing up, we made our way out of our room and to the elevator.

As we reached the lobby floor, we were thoroughly shocked to see what had happened. The whole place was decorated differently now. Of course there were still the animal trophies and fire place, but now they looked newer. More refined. And there were balloons and such hanging from the ceiling. And we could see guests going into the ball room doors.

But the guests, while wearing masks, weren't wearing regular costumes like Michael or Louis. They were dressed in 1920s fashion. Like me. And we could hear faint jazz music playing from the ball room.

"Did your mom change the costume plan?" Michael asked Louis and we both looked at him. He was just as shocked as we were.

"N-no! She would've texted me but I still don't have any signal! The original plan was to be just a regular Halloween themed costume party. Not a 1920s party!"

"Do you think maybe your mom found out about the story of the hotel and are doing a sort of recreation of the party you told us?" I asked.

"Could be. Cmon let's go" Louis said. Me and Michael followed our friend to the great ball room.
