Chalice took in the view from the window. There she saw the full man accompanied with thousands of stars to decorate the night sky.
Today was supposed to be the day she went stargazing with them.
But in her current situation, it was impossible. She mentally sighed in defeat at the back of her mind.
Chalice wanted to adjust her scarf but because of rope the bonded her wrists, she couldn't do anything and started to scream a string of curses in her head.
"Fei, Hime-chan might catch some cold back there"
A tick mark surfaced on her forehead as she sharply jerked her head away, her body slightly following, making her raven-haired seat mate's retreat his hand back to him.
She never liked nicknames and getting close with people she didn't like.
She simply rose her shoulders to adjust her scarf, it was already enough.
She didn't want to owe anything from them.
"Did the boss speak of her being a mute?" Feitan inquired, returning his gaze in front.
Phinks shook his head in reply.
Chalice never spoke to them, she didn't know what words will come out once she opens her mouth and she definitely doesn't want to lose her tongue just yet.
But it seemed like something made her speak.
"Are you sure you're Big Brother's comrades?"
It sort of surprised them since they stiffened on their spot but they immediately relaxed afterwards.
"Positive" Feitan replied without sparing a glance at her.
She casually rested her back before glancing out the window. "Thought you decided to drag me with your suicide plan or something. With that said, the evidence would probably get wiped out"
"Suicide?" Phinks repeated until the three of them realized what Chalice was talking about.
Everything else happened in a flash.
Light invaded the stolen vehicle while Feitan dragged Chalice out and far from the explosion.
The boys got pretty much annoyed since she didn't tell them about the bomb immediately but Shizuku spoke otherwise that they had some other business to attend to.
Dozens of dark hooded figures appeared out of nowhere. Chalice remained there, sitting on the ground, waiting for someone to attack to get on her escape route.
Pandemonium broke in the deserted road. She carefully placed her legs between the bonded arms and got her arms back in front, just in time for a scythe to cut the rope off.
Chalice saw the assaulter gasp in surprise before she jumped out of the way to watch him/her crash on the ground. She didn't waste any more time lingering in the place and sprinted away from it.
She could've sworn she heard the guy named 'Phinks' bark some orders to retrieve her back and ran faster.
But wait.

Where was she supposed to go?

She couldn't believe that she managed to forget what just happened hours ago.
Chalice unconsciously slowed her pace down as she started to drown in her thoughts. "Where am I supposed to go?"
She felt something slide down her cheek but she didn't have time to check it out when she saw what was in front of her, something that made her senses malfunction to the point she didn't realize a sword was prepared to slice her head off her neck.
"Why can't you just be a good girl and do what we say?" Feitan snapped but Chalice didn't bother to reply. The raven-haired swordsman from behind her followed her gaze.
A man with inhuman size was busy munching down on his food.
.

.
Human food.
Chalice's eyes narrowed when he turned his gaze towards them. A smile split his face that reached from ear to ear literally.
"I was wondering where the third one ran off to" his voice boomed inside the forest, his teeth glistening with blood and saliva. "I'm pleased to have you as the dessert, Chalice Deamonne"
Chalice recognized the food to be her two comrades. She took a step forward but she suddenly felt herself getting pulled off the ground.
The next thing she knew, she was standing on a branch of some tree with Feitan removing his arm around her.
"Stay here" he ordered.
Chalice simply stared and almost saw a splitting-image of him until Feitan eventually left to face the wide-mouthed man.
She sighed and leaned herself on the tree trunk while adjusting her red scarf to cover her neck.
Everything was just timed badly, she thought.
If it didn't happen, she would've been a bit happy to hear she had a brother.
If it didn't happen, she wouldn't have that much hatred inside of her.
If it didn't happen, she wouldn't be tormented with the fact he almost resembled him.
She was supposed to think that she had someone who looked almost like him, she would've done anything for him, that very face was some of the earthly things she grew to love, but it was now simply a person who was going to destroy her until her final days on earth.
"Why wasn't it me?" Chalice bit her quivering lip in frustration.
It was truly depressing. One minute she was surrounded by people she wished for and yearned for years and a minute later, she was debating with herself if she should follow them as well because she was alone once again.
She was going to feel homesick for the place where she was respected, cared for, and loved.
"The more time you spend time with someone is equal to the pain when you're going to lose them" her other comrade spoke in the back of her mind.
She jumped down from the branch and motioned towards a victorious Feitan who seemed a bit surprise to her sudden display of obedience.
Feitan shrugged it off and led the way back while Chalice sulked behind him, her hand slowly creeping inside her scarf and touch the side of her neck.
"If only they didn't find out..." Chalice mused in her mind as she occupied herself with staring at the skull crest on Feitan's back. "They wouldn't have died"

Here's a Hunter X Hunter fan fiction I made months ago. I was supposed to publish this before but the one who inspired me to do this disappeared in Wattpad. ;w;
Luckily though, the one I dedicated this chapter[FreakWENCY] to was the one who made me publish this for good.
So guys, what do you think of the first chapter and the book's summary/introduction?
