Lydia's POV
"Alright, Salton. You're free to go, since you are a vampire slayer." the officer said to me, before he unlocked the cell door to let me go. I stood up and walked out, heading into the actual station so I could leave that way. "Since I'm a vampire slayer?" I repeated his words to myself, and then it struck me. They were humans, and probably the last couple of humans to exist like me. "Yeah. I can't charge you for doing your job. You knocked her out, not killed. But, I can offer some advice, if you want." he told me from beside me. "No, I'm good for advice." I told him, "But thank you anyway."
"No problem. I am on your side, Salton. Now, go before my boss fires me." he said, telling me to go and so I did. I walked out of the station and began walking away, feeling glad that the officer was on my side.
A few minutes later of walking, I arrived back home where I immediately went into my bedroom to sleep in my work clothes after a long day. The next morning though, I woke up to see an familiar arm wrapped around me. "Carly, I'm sorry for fucking up." I apologised to her, unable to move as her grip was tight and nearly crushing my ribs. "I need to heal properly, by feeding on you. Be very still, do not move a single fucking muscle." she threatened me before I felt her sink her fangs into the side of my neck. I then realised that she was in her vampire form, making me completely freeze as I was listening to her feeding sounds which were small moans.
A solid minute later, she pulled away and lightly kissed my cheek with her blood stained lips. "Apology accepted, by the way." she told me before I sat up and watched her leave my bedroom. I let out a small sigh of relief that I was still alive, and decided to look at my neck in the small mirror on my bedside table. Yep. That bite was bad. Did I deserve it? Yes. I did deserve it.
I got up from my bed and got changed into my normal casual clothes which was a simple blue buttoned t-shirt and a pair of black jeans. I went downstairs and ate some food, then went to check on Carly who was in her bedroom. The door was open, so I walked straight in. Good, she was out of her vampire form. "It turns out that the police officer was on my side. He let me go." I told her, "Yeah. It's pretty clear as you are stood in front of me. What made you freak out on me like that?" she asked me. "I hated the pressure." I replied, "Also, that is not what friends do. Not even sure if you are my friend anymore."
"How about we have a nice picnic, then? To show you that I'm not a monster?" she then offered, I let out a deep sigh and crossed my arms. "Please, Lydia?" she pleaded. "One minute, you were vile. And the next minute, you are like this. You lied about controlling your vampire side so why should I trust you?" I asked her, "I'm not a monster, Lydia. Please stop telling me that." she replied, it was obvious that she was heart broken now.
There was then some silence, before I made a decision.
"Okay then, let's have a picnic together on the roof-top of your night club."
"Really?"
"Yes, really. Let's do it."
