Lydia's POV
I woke up with a loud gasp as if I had been drowning in an endless ocean, sitting up a bit too fast from my bed. I had that same nightmare again. Luckily I was alone in this camping cabin. It was good to be alone, but being alone for too long could make me go insane. Maybe I was already insane. It was still dark out, so I guess it was time to do some wondering around and hopefully stop those vampires from hurting anybody else. The image of that poor couple was still in my head. It's been seven years today since that unfortunate incident happened. The look in the new-born vampire's eyes were full of regret and depression, and that will remain in my life until I die.
Once the dizziness worn off, I moved out of my bed and got dressed in simple dark clothing which was a pair of black ripped jeans and a jacket. I tied my hair up in a messy pony-tail and went outside. I didn't have a kitchen, I just had a bedroom and a tiny bathroom. The whole world went to shit when it first happened, but then it suddenly turned back to normal. It felt like an apocalypse and yet, I still live out in the woods in misery. I couldn't go back to my house. My roommate got bit and I didn't want to kill her. She was actually my best friend and always hung out with her until that day. She was actually the first vampire I spared...
I grabbed my little crossbow that was resting against my cabin and began walking away, going into a short-cut to the streets. Carrying a cross-bow was a bad idea, but it was my only protection. It was given to me from another vampire hunter, I haven't heard or seen them in a long while. I walked further into the streets and was looking around to see if there were any vampires about. My favourite hang-out place has been changed into a night club for vampires only, so they were probably all in there. I hated them. I hated every single one of them...
Oh shit...was that...
"Lydia?" my roommate called me as she walked out of that night club with blood on her lips. "Carly..." I said, before I aimed my cross-bow at her. "Stay back. Please." I told her, watching her immediately raise her arms. "I'm not a threat, Lydia. I want you to come with me." she began to convince me to lower my weapon down. Not going to happen. Not tonight. Not tomorrow. Not ever. "I know you won't shoot me. Besides...you forgot your arrows." she said. I widened my eyes when she said that, making me look down to see that I had indeed forgot my fucking arrows. Great. They won't be there when I get back so my sleeping problems have really did me a favour here. Carly began walking towards me even though I still had my cross-bow aimed at her with no arrows. She got close to me, gently taking my cross-bow out of my hands and then threw it far, so I wouldn't be able to retrieve it.
Unable to speak from fear, she softly grabbed my hand and started to guide me into the place I didn't want to be. "Back off." Carly hissed at everyone who tried to get their hands on me. She took me into a private room and slid the lock across before turning around to face me. "I can't believe you are actually here. I thought you were dead. Where have you been?" she began asking me questions, "I have been living in the woods. No big deal." I told her, "That's why you look like a mess, then." she chuckled. I decided to not respond to that, instead I frowned at her.
"What's up? Why the frown?" she then asked me, "When you first turned...you chased me in the house and out of the house." I told her. "That wasn't me, Lydia. It was someone that looked like me." Carly said back, before she stepped forward and grabbed both of my hands gently. "How about we go back home?" she offered me, "I haven't touched your bedroom, so it's the way you left it."
Suddenly, I found myself hugging Carly tightly, confirming that she was real. She hugged me back, "Let's go home." I told her, accepting the offer.
