Apologies for the wait, and the length, we've both been very busy in our personal lives.

Allumos's POV

I sighed in relief as Kay yawned, and drifted off to sleep.

It'd taken over an hour, but she'd finally run out of energy, and closed her eyes

I smiled at the little bundle of joy in my arms, watching as she breathed steadily.

So peaceful. You wouldn't have guessed that not 5 minutes ago she was babbling up a storm, and waving her arms about.

I stifled a yawn myself, leaning back against the couch.

I can't go to sleep now.. Bri and Lo'pho are still downstairs with Jericho, and they could .. call for me.. at any.. moment..

I yawned again, feeling my eyelids fall, my vision peacefully closing in on itself.

Maybe just... five short minutes

"ALLUMOS!"

I jumped, startling awake, and sitting up.

"H-huh?"

Bri was standing in front of me, her arms crossed, a look of fury on her face.

"Oh. Sorry Bri, I must have.. dozed o-"

"Dozed off?! I've been calling you for.. nevermind that, WHY DO YOU HAVE A CHILD!" She shouted at me pointing at Kay, who was slowly waking up as well.

"Oh, yeah that. Uh. Someone left her in front of my door." I explained sheepishly, cradling Kay, who was now staring at Bri's pointed ears in wonder.

Bri put her hands together, took a deep breath, and I swear I heard her mumble "divines give me strength".

I blinked.

"So. Let me just.. run myself through the events, just to get everything straight.." she started.

"If you must."

"Me and the doctor are downstairs, in your basement, working on saving our friend."

"Yes."

"You are up here, and someone leaves a BABY on your doorstep." She continues

"Yes."

"And then you.. don't come to get us, don't say anything."

"You were busy, I didn't want to bother you." I explained, letting Kayk nom on my finger.

"And you've clearly been crying." She finishes, crossing her arms.

I blink, and quickly wipe my eyes.

"I.."

"Why were you crying?" She asks. I look up at her, and then down at Kayk

Can't see a way to get out of this... I looked up at Bri again, starting to open my mouth to answer, but paused.

I noticed Bri's hands were twitching a bit, a flick of longing in her eyes.

I remembered how much she'd cooed and fussed over Artemis.

Hm..

"... if I promise to explain everything eventually, and let you hold her, will you drop it for now?" I asked. It's worth a shot.
