Allumos's POV

This had to be some kinda joke.. or I was just unlucky.

That was my only thought as I stared at the sign in front of the admittedly very fancy village.

Printessa Albion.

Of all the towns I had to come across... of course. I sighed.

Hopefully I don't run into the head guard again. That could be uncomfortable.. but it could also be very helpful.

Either way, I still had to get some directions or a new map like Lord Vendi suggested, so I stepped into town.

I was instantly taken aback by the amount of people. So far all the towns I'd seen were rather small. And to reflect, there weren't many people. But Printessa Albion was a much larger town, almost too big...

As I walked around, I passed a statue of one of the Divines, carved in a pearly clean quartz. I paused, and looked up at it.

It depicted a man with long hair. It was holding a feather in one hand, by his side, and the other was raised holding a glass. The eyes had no details, but the mouth was curved upwards slightly, in a smirk. The only other detail on its face was a heart shaped mark on its cheek.

It was quite a large statue, and I shivered, thinking how many people had to suffer a terrible trip to the dreadful nether to make the statue.

I shook my head, and kept walking, looking for a shop.

"Allumos?"

I tensed, and sighed, looking over.

Sure enough, the head guard, Leander, was walking over to me, smiling.

"Hello again." I said calmly. He stopped in front of me, smiling brightly.

"It's such a pleasure to see you again! What brings you to Printessa Albion?" He asked. "You're quite far from Dragon's den."

I sighed.

"A child was abandoned by my home, and I am trying to track down the parents." I explained curtly, before reconsidering. "Actually I could probably use your help. M-" I paused as I saw him tense. "Is everything okay?" I asked, frowning.

He hesitated, before shaking his head.

"In all honesty, no. I'm afraid I really don't have time to help out. I've been quite busy recently. I'm truly sorry." He said. I blinked.

"Has something happened?" I asked.

He nodded slowly.

"Actually yes. Some people in our town have been targeted by a group of bandits. We're struggling to track down their base of operation, and we're getting worried because it's seeming like they may attack again soon." Leander said, his shoulders tensing.

I blinked, slowly processing all that information.

"Maybe I can be of help?" I offered. Leander blinked, and tilted his head.

"Sorry, what?" He asked, frowning. I shrugged.

"I've dealt with situations somewhat similar to this one, and you helped me out a lot by leading me to a doctor. My friend is recovering, in fact by now, he's all better, but he was a few hours away from dying. You quite literally helped save his life. And I feel like I owe you for that. So I want to help." I explained
