TRICK OR TREAT, FREAK

TODAY IS HALLOWEEN, so Breya went home early to get ready. The boys were going as Ghostbusters characters, and Breya agreed to go as Dana for them. To school, she only wore the red poncho over her shirt, deciding to finish the look at home.

The whole group rides up to school that morning, obviously with the exception of Will, singing the Ghostbuster's theme song. Well, the group except Breya, who was smiling as she rolled her eyes at them.

"Who you gonna call?" They sing as Will walks up from behind them, finishing the song for them.

"Ghostbusters!"

The party smiles at Will, getting up and hugging everybody, but saying the names of the characters they're portraying.

When Will calls Lucas Venkman, Mike steps in, "Woah, woah, why are you Venkman?"

Breya looks at his costume to see his name tag has the same name, meaning Mike and Lucas were both portraying Venkman.

"Because I'm Venkman." Lucas answers Mike.

"No, I'm Venkman."

"Why can't there just be two Venkman?" Will questions, trying to end the argument between the two.

"Because there's only one Venkman in real life." Mike's tone gets angrier as he turns away from Will to look at Lucas, "We planned this months ago. I'm Venkman, Dustin's Stanz, Will's Egon, and you're Winston."

"I specifically didn't agree to Winston."

"Yes, you did!"

"I don't think he did." Will cuts in.

"Nobody wants to be Winston." Breya adds, Lucas nodding in agreement.

"What's wrong with Winston?" Mike questions.

"What's wrong with Winston? He joined the team super late, he's not funny, and he's not even a scientist!"

"Yeah, but he's still cool!" Mike argues.

"If you love him so much, why don't you be Winston?" Breya asks, Lucas, again, nodding in agreement.

"I can't!" Mike rolls his eyes.

"Why not?" Lucas interrogates.

"B-be-because-"

"B-b-be-be-because you're not black?" Lucas mimics the stutter that Mike had.

"I didn't say that!" Mike shouts.

"You thought it." Lucas states.

They continue arguing, Breya pretending to fall asleep on Will, earning a small laugh from him, when Dustin calls us.

The fighting stops and the group turns to Dustin, walking to look at the kids walking off of the bus.

"Why is no one else wearing costumes?" Dustin questions, Breya smiling awkwardly at Mike and Will who look at her as she takes the poncho she was wearing off.

The party walks down the center of the hallway in a line, people laughing at them as they walk down. Well, laughing at everybody besides Breya who had already shoved the jacket into her backpack to avoid more stares.

"When do people make these decisions?" Dustins asks quietly to the group.

"Everyone dressed up last year." Will points out.

Breya waves awkwardly at them, branching off to her locker as they continued walking. She takes one more glance at them as someone messes with them.

She sighs before hearing a skateboard down the hall, and sees Max. Her heart gives a small flutter and-
