Jace, my Mother, my Father, and a couple more vampires were in the office standing around a table with a map laid out. "Okay, Demetri you and Magdelana go to the woods. Godfrey and Tehya you take the east side, Anastasia and I will take the west. We need to find these rogues and either bring them in or kill them; if we don't, then all vampires are at risk of exposure. Are you clear on your assignments?" Everyone in the room nodded.  "Good, now go."

Everyone left to go to there designated places when I turned to Jace he had his arms crossed and a serious look on his face.  "Your staying here." I smiled. "Awe, that's cute." He gave me a confused look. "What is?" "That you actually think I'll listen." He groaned and said, "Anastasia, I'm doing this to protect you. Please just stay here." I shook my head and said, "No, I have every right to be out there. Those bastards have killed some of my friends. Now, its their turn to pay. I may be new at this whole vampire shit but I was born to do this and I'll be damned if someone else takes it from me."

Jace shook his head. "Your one independent woman, you know that right?" I laughed and with inhuman speed took off towards our designated area. I couldn't believe how free I felt. The wind blowing through my hair, the distinct smell of freshly cut grass. Everything was beautiful. I could hear everything. The deer chewing the grass nearby, the birds in the trees, the bats flying through the air catching their meals. it was breath taking. It wasn't like how all the vampire books said, I could see everything. I could hear everything. I was pretty sure that if I were to run passed a mundane they would only feel the air wip at them.

Jace came up beside me and laughed. "Looks like you already got your speed under control." I shook my head, "What makes you think that? I might not know how to stop." He laughed and said,  "Now, if that were true then I'd be worried." I laughed and stopped at the edge of a rapid creek. I looked at Jace only to see him smiling at me. "What?" I asked. "Admit it, you don't know what to do."  I smacked him on the arm and jumped. Only to land in the creek. It was so cold as if it was full of ice cubes. I grabbed ahold of the closest rock before I could get carried to far away from the rapid current.

I quickly pulled myself up onto the rock and curled up into a ball, shivering so hard my teeth were chattering. Jace yelled out, "Anastasia! Are you okay?" Even though I knew he was laughing, he was more concerned about getting me the hell out of there and getting me warm. I looked over at him and realized I was in the middle of the creek. "Get m-m-m-me o-o-out of h-h-here!" He nodded and said, "Is there any room for me to land on that rock?" I nodded my head and watched in wonder as he easily jumped onto my rock. He waisted no time pulling me into his arms and jumping back onto the edge of the creek. He looked down at me and said, "Just because your a vampire doesn't mean that your gonna know everything. You were born a vamp but you weren't raised as one.

You got to be more careful. If you don't know what to do ask for help. I know I'm an asshole and should've been more considerate but didn't control my tongue." I realized then that he thought it was funny in the beginning but when he realized it was freezing, his concern for my health kicked in. He didn't waist anymore time and took off towards the castle. I leaned my head on his shoulder trying to draw in some of his heat when a large form ran into us knocking Jace off his feet. Jace had ended up loosing his grip on me; adrenaline quickly kicked in making me bounce up off the ground and land on my feet in a defensive crouch.

I hissed at the large four legged creature in front of me showing fang. It made a loud growl and stalked towards me into the moonlight. Only then did I realize that I was dealing with a werewolf. Jace stood up and immediately got in front of me to guard me from the beast. "Please, calm down, Sebastian, she's my mate." The wolf tilted his head to the side and started to shift. The sound of bones breaking and reconnecting joints filled my ears making me flinch. I couldn't help but think how much pain he was going through just to shift in and out of human form.

"What are you two doing on my turf?" asked the werewolf.  I looked at Jace as he slowly got to his feet and said, "We have a rogue vampire clan that's trying to kill my mate. I'm just trying to make sure she's safe. Will you help me do that Alpha Alexander?" Alexander laughed and said, "No need to use my title, Jace, you know that I will help you." I turned my head as I heard to our right. Alexander quickly shifted back into wolf form and stepped in front of me in a protective stance. Jace sniffed the air and barred his fangs as he recognized the new threat.

"Show yourself! We know your out there!" yelled Jace.  The stranger from the other night walked out into the moonlight and smiled. "Good, you turned her. Now, she'll be even richer for my master." I barred my fangs at him. "Thats what you think you sadistic fuck!" I yelled. I ran towards him with in human speed and grabbed him by the neck, lifting him up off the ground. "You will never have me. Nor, will your master." I threw him as hard as I could towards the rapid creek and smiled in triumph as i watched him smash through several trees, rocks, then finally landed in the creek.

I looked to Jace with a smiled who had a large smile on his face. "God, I love you." My heart swelled at those words and said, "I love you to-" Something grabbed me from behind and slammed me to the ground. It was another vampire. I quickly wrapped my legs around him and twisted my body around in a circular motion making his grip loosen and release. I swung myself around him and slammed his face into the pine filled grass. He hissed at me and tried to get back up. I smiled as I slammed him back into the ground harder than the last time. "Facilis Descensus Averno. You don't scare me." I laughed and said, "The descent into hell is easy. Did you learn that from Cassandra Clare? She's a good author. But nothing can save you."
