First Attacks

I couldn't hold back my giggles any longer as Jace pulled me out of the amusement park entrance and towards the car. "Come on, let's get you home before I have to worry about your parents taking my head." I laughed even harder. Jace sure was a gentleman, but it seems he has a weakness. Angry parents. "My parents don't even know I'm out with a boy. They're probably already worried sick." I never thought Jace's face could get paler. His skin was so pale now that I was surprised it wasn't translucent.

"You never told them you were going out." I shook my head, and said, "I didn't think I was gonna be out to late. So, I figured why bother." He shook his head and started to look worried. "Jace, calm down, okay I'm sure they'll love you." He smiled at me as he continued to walk me to the car, when several blood curdling screams filled the air followed by more and more every few seconds. Jace immediately went on high alert and gently pushed me behind him as he faced the unknown threat. A tall man with crimson red eyes was standing in front of Jace, snarling with two needle sharp canines dripping with drool. I gasped and took a step back. Jace snarled at him with a pair of sharpened canines of his own.

"What are you doing on my turf?" Jace said, fangs still out in clear view. "That's not any of your concern. Just know that the girl your protecting is ours." He snarled again and launched himself at the stranger, but he was too quick for him. They both moved so fast that there movements were a blur. I couldn't make out who had the upper hand. I turned on my heel and ran towards my mustang only to be grabbed from behind and thrown down onto the pavement. I screamed out as the pain in my back shot throughout my body sending my nerve endings on edge.

The stranger hovered over my body and said, "Your not going anywhere. We've been looking for you." I shivered as he trailed his lips and fangs over the rasing pulse in my neck. I groaned as I continued to try to get out from under him and away from his grasp, but my attempts were powerless against him. Jace was suddenly ripping him off of me with a hiss and incredible strength threw him half way across the lot. "Get in the car! NOW!"

I didn't waist any time and quickly got in the car. Jace got into the drivers seat and burned rubber getting out of the parking lot. "WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?!" I screamed at him. He shook his head and turned his head to quickly look at me before turning to look back at the road. "I didn't want you to find out about me like this. I wanted to tell you what I was, just not right now. The truth is I'm a vampire. Just like that man who was after you. You don't have to worry about him coming after you or your family. You and your family are under my protection, which means you'll be moving in with me and my family, your family is already there waiting on us." I shook my head in disbelief.

"You kidnapped my family!" He sighed and said, "You have to understand that I am doing this for you and your families safety. Everything that I'm doing is for that purpose specifically. I couldn't live with myself if anything were to happen to you or your family." My heart melted at his words, but I wouldn't show him that. I was to stubborn. "You know, you could've just told them the situation and they would've just told you to take them to me." He sighed again.  "Anastasia, the less people know about your situation the less danger they are in. The less danger that they are in the less stress is put on you and making everything instead of more difficult a lot easier."

I rolled my eyes and looked out the window only to smile. I understood why he was doing what he doing and even thought it was the sweetest thing in the world. But I still couldn't let him think that I will just sit back and let him think he could control everything. Even if giving him hell was the only way to get through to him, it would be worth it.

Jace started to pull into a very long, gravel like driveway and continued up the driveway only to pull up to what I could only describe as a castle. The castle with its cathedral shape and tallness made my heart skip several beats. When he pulled the car to a stop I threw open the car door and ran up the steps. It was beautiful. Though the outside was a pearlish color; the giant oakwood door opened to reveal a golden room and black/white checker tiles.

I ran inside to get a better look of the golden room only to see that the beauty didn't change. The room had gold everywhere, even the vases holding the red roses were golden. I looked at the staircase and saw that even though the room was golden the rug going up the stairs was red with golden flakes outlining the frame. The railing itself was made of a golden marble, which fit the room perfectly. I couldn't help but gawk at everything. The place was beautiful.  Jace walked over to me and said, "You know that you'll catch flies holding your mouth open like that."

I smacked him none to gently. He laughed and said, " What its the truth!" I shook my head at him as I followed him. "Your parents are already in their room. They are quite concerned about you." I smiled. "They're always concerned about me." He opened a large set of double doors for my mother to launch herself at me and squeeze the breath out of my lungs. "Mom, I do need to breathe, you know?"

"We were so worried about you! Where were you?" said my Mom.  I sighed in relief as my mother let go of me and stepped back only to check over my body.  I smiled at her and said, "I was with Jace, if it weren't for him I wouldn't be here. He saved my life Mom." My Mother looked to Jace and said, "Thank you for saving my daughters life. Is this why we were brought here?" He smiled at her and said, "Your very perceptive. Now I see where your daughter gets it from." I blushed at his words and went to his side for him to wrap his arm around me. He pulled me into him and smiled down at me.

This felt so normal, so much like home. I can only hope that it will stay like this. Forever.
