A week passed faster then Cecil would have liked. They had made so much progress with Aero. They had gotten them clothes and Aero had started talking more and more. Sometimes it was small words. like Hungry or Tired. Sometimes it was a phrase like Thank you or Help please. Small little things but still it was Progress. They had even asked for things.
Cecil had really gotten attached. As had Carlos who had even took Aero to their lab one day. Aero seemed to really like going as when they came back, They stuck with Carlos as he talked about what he was doing with different experiments.
As he had said he did announce Aero and if anyone was missing them... however now it was Saturday Night and no one had come forward. Meaning the next Sunday morning they would have to get Aero up and take them to the Barrier.
They had gotten a number of Texts and a few Calls from Kevin and Diego about Aero. Asking how they were and what their Progress was. It wasn't as if they could hide it much more. Cecil knew Carlos had mentioned them going to stay with another Family when they first woke up but Cecil didn't think he had explained any further then that.
So here they were now. Sitting at the table after Aero's bath. They were in their cute little onsie holding a stuffed Cat Carlos has spotted while they shopped one day. Aero seemed to love the stuffed cat quite a bit and carried it everywhere. Sometimes Cecil could sort of hear what the little one said to the thing.
small things like. Keep safe and Please don't leave. That last one had hurt Cecil's heart to hear. Did the little one think they were going to leave them as well? Did they think they would never come back? Cecil started hating Sunday more and more. Carlos took his hand and Cecil gave a small nod to him. it was time.
"Aero... you know that you will have to spend time with another family starting tomorrow right?" Aero hugged their stuffed cat and nodded.
"And you know that this isn't permanent right? After a week you come back to us then another week with them. You will always come home Sundays ok?" Again they nodded. Cecil took a breath. good this was going good. they weren't acting upset... then again Aero was hard to read at times. Sometimes they would give a small lopsided smile. Sometimes they would just stare. Like they had seen things and couldn't drink to forget them. It pulled at Cecil's heart to think about.
"The place you... you are going to is.. well it's a lot different then here Starshine. The people there can be a bit... Scary" Aero looked up at Cecil as he said their little nickname. Cecil had started calling them that on Wednesday when he caught Aero looking up at the sky. Their little purple eyes gleaming a bit in their light. A little star that had fallen was what Cecil though.
"You remember the man I spoke to on the phone" Aero blinked and looked to be thinking back.
"Kevin" They said quietly. Cecil nodded at them.
"yes, Their name is Kevin... Him and his...er.. Boyfriend? Diego will be watching you." Aero looked down slightly and nodded. They then looked at the stuffed cat.
'Leave behind" They said softly. Carlos pressed his lips together. He didn't know if it was ok to bring the stuffed cat with them. It could get damaged there and with how attached as Aero had gotten to it he didn't know what it would do. They could also use the Stuffed cat to get Aero to do things for them. But then again Aero would be sad to leave it behind. They slept with it everynight now. They took it everywhere.
"I... I think it might be best to leave it here." Cecil looked at a conflicted Carlos then took out his phone. He had a picture on the screen. it was of Kevin holding a stuffed cat very similar but this one had some... strange stains on it.
"Kevin has one just like it at his place Starshine... It might not be the same but it might help till you come back next Sunday?" Aero looked at the photo and pointed at Kevin.
