My heart suddenly stopped. "No! Not Buckbeak! They can't do that! Buckbeak isn't dangerous! He's not dangerous!" I yelled.
"Kassie, calm down." Ron tried to tell me.
Was Ron serious right now? "Relax? How can I relax? They're going to kill Buckbeak!" I shouted.
I then looked at Hermione's letter. It was already damp, with enormous tear drops smudged into the ink so badly in places that it was very difficult to read. But I'll do my best to try and read it.
Dear, Hermione. We lost. I'm allowed to bring him back to Hogwarts. Execution date to be fixed. Beaky has been enjoying London. I won't forget all the help you gave us.
"How could they do it? How could they kill off Buckbeak like this?" I asked while crying on the couch.
"They are poor judges!" Anubis roared. "This is not justice!"
"Malfoy's Dad frightened the Committee into it." Hermione said wiping her eyes.
"That son of a-" I started to say, but I stopped myself.
"Say it." Ron told me.
"I don't really like to say it. Mater says it's not ladylike." I said.
"Kassie. Say it. It's okay." Ron assured.
"That SON OF A BITCH!" I yelled.
"Feels good right?" Harry asked.
"Damn right it feels good!" I answered.
"What feels good?" Ryan asked coming in. And we recapped him about the letter. "He really is a son of a bitch, isn't he?"
"Yep." Harry agreed.
"They're a bunch of doddery old fools, and they were scared. There'll be an appeal, though, there always is. Only I can't see any hope... Nothing will change." Hermione said in tears.
And I was in tears as well. In fact I was crying.
"Yes there will." Ron vowed. "Because I'm going to help."
"Thanks Ron." Hermione thanked.
"If Malfoy can intimidate the Committee like that. Then so can we." Ron said. "Right Anubis?"
A God of Egypt going to intimidate the Ministry. That would be a sight to see.
"We'll have to be discreet about it though." Anubis pointed out.
"Where's the fun in that?" Ron asked.
"You obviously weren't there when the last time Anubis was not really discreet." Horus answered. "And trust me. You don't want to find out."
You know. When they did stuff like this, it made me wonder what kind of stuff the Gods of Egypt did.
With all the extra security measures in place. The only time that we were going to be able to talk to Hagrid was at Care of Magical Creatures Class.
And Hagrid looked numb and shocked at the verdict.
"S'all my fault. Got all tongue tied. They was all sittin' there in Black robes an' I kep' droppin' me notes and forgettin' all them dates yeh looked up for me, Hermione. An' then Lucius Malfoy stood up an' said his bit, and the Committee jus' did exac'ly what he told 'em." Hagrid told us.
"There's still the appeal!" Ron pointed out fiercely. "Don't give up yet, we're working on it! And we've got a god with us this time!"
"They can't do this to Buckbeak! He's pure of soul!" I yelled out as we walked back up to the castle. "Anubis even weighed his heart on the Scales!"
