I folded the paper up and placed it in the glove box my husband was basically watching my every move, but I didn't really mind it. I wonder how our life could've been if we weren't in this current situation.
If I had a normal pregnancy...
"My love, be careful!" I watched my daughter climbing up her swing set rather than simply sitting on them and swinging like a typical child, and I exclaimed in a concerned voice. Her bangs nearly completely hid her gray eyes, her long, loosely curled hair flowing in the wind.
"Our kid is the adventurous sort; she wants to try everything and doesn't seem to have any fears." "She gets that from me," my husband tried taking all the credit for our crazy but amazing daughter.
"Uh huh sure" I said in a very sarcastic tone knowing that our daughter definitely got those traits from me.
"Honey, I love you." I made eye contact with my husband, and he said, "I love you too." I smiled in response and we both leaned in for a kiss.
I rushed over to our daughter as soon as she started yelling from the top of her swing set "EWWWWWWWW!"
"Love you won't think it is disgusting when you're older, I'm sure of it." As I touched her nose, I whispered. She blinked, smiled in response, and buried her head into my shoulder.
"Momma can I have lemonade please!?" My daughter asked sliding her way out of my arms and jumping up in down waiting for a response.
"Ok ok you can have some, but we have to make it and we're not going to put too much sugar in it because you already have so much energy."
We all entered our home and went to the kitchen. We had a kitchen island in the middle of the room that was surrounded by stools and had a fruit arrangement in the center. The kitchen had bright lighting, marble counters, smooth floor tiles, shiny kitchen appliances, there were a few dishes were in the sink, and the kitchen and living room were connected.
"So, the ingredients that we need are 1 ¾ cups of sugar,"
"Honey, you act like you actually follow the measurements." My husband playfully spoke as I played along and rolled my eyes.
"Whatever anyways you need sugar, water, lemons, and ice."
"I'll get the lemons!" My daughter yelled she flung open the fridge doors and started climbing up the fridge. Since she isn't listening to any of us at this point, I just let her do whatever. She did however end up finding the lemons and brought them back to me quickly. After she brought them to me, she then said she would grab the sugar and ran into the pantry.
"What a wonderful little helper I have here," I think I spoke loudly enough for her to hear what I had said. My husband was grinning smugly when I turned to face him.
"What's that?" I asked.
"Nothing, I just love you so much," he said, then leaned in and I did the same, meeting in the middle. Our daughter's tiny footsteps grew louder, then something smacked against the floor this made us rapidly pull away from each other and the floor was covered in a massive amount of sugar. Well cleaning this should be fun.
"Momma what do we do!? WE DON'T HAVE ANYMORE SUGAR!"
"It's okay sweetie we can go to the store and buy some, okay?" My husband answered for me, I wasn't bothered by it though since it was exactly what I was planning on saying.
"YAY CAN WE GO NOW!"
"Yes." My husband and I both replied simultaneously.***********************************************
"Where is the sugar at?" My daughter asked as she spun around in circles.
"Um sweetie maybe if you took a second and stopped spinning for a bit you might be able to find the sugar." My husband tried putting that in the nicest way possible.
"Oh, good idea!" She replied and stopped spinning.
**************************************************
We all got sidetracked from our original intent and ended up buying practically everything available at a grocery store, except for sugar. Once in the car, we realized we had forgotten the sugar, but I was already feeling worn out, so my lovely husband offered to go inside and get what we initially needed. While he was doing that my daughter and I were jamming out to music.
********************************************
I hauled in a few grocery bags and with a smile I said "Finally, back in my kitchen." As I melted into one of the stools, and my husband followed behind with his arms full of grocery bags and my daughter carried many of the lighter grocery bags as she entered the kitchen."Can we make the lemonade now momma?"
"Yes, we can sweetie." I laughed. So, can you please mix the sugar and water together while stirring? I questioned my daughter.
"YES!" After responding, she started to move almost instantly. I split a lemon in half and put one half into a manual lemon juicer while she was doing that. I made careful to remove any remaining seeds by pulping and pressing the juice after extracting it.
"I believe I've finished stirring, mama,"
"Okay, nice work!" I exclaimed in excitement.
Then, we combined the ingredients with ice to create a delicious lemonade. I scanned the room for my husband but instead found him sleeping on the couch, so we clinked our drinks together and took sips. My daughter and I laughed as she jumped from the stool and ran into her room. After about 4 minutes, she came back carrying a blanket, which she draped over her father and tucked him in.
My face felt warm, and a bright light shone on it, waking me from a dream that seemed so real but was so far distant. A situation that only exists in alternate universes or other lifetimes. I will never be capable of leading such a life.
