(author's note~ fun fact of the day, i work at a newspaper writing stories every week. enjoy~)

{Third Person POV}

Cole sprinted through the courtyard to catch up with his teammates.

"Um, where have you been?!" Jay yelled as he finally found them.

"Shut it, I'm here now. Where is he?" Cole answered, rolling his eyes.

They approached a rock formation where The Master of the Mind, Neuro, was sitting meditating.

"We need your help Neuro," Lloyd said, wasting no time.

"You think I can get close to Chen to read his mind, so you can find your robotic friend and not have to fight," Neuro answered.

"Don't forget-" Kai was interrupted by him.

"You still need to know what Chen's up to because he's up to something," he continued.

"That's really impressive Nerdo," Jay said, surprised.

"It's Neuro," he snapped, "Master of the Mind. And Cole thinks Jay won't last long in a fight."

Jay scoffed, "You think that?!"

"You just said it yourself," Cole responded.

"But you didn't have to believe it!"

"Don't be offended, Cole. Jay here thinks you're the least valuable ninja," Neuro interrupted again.

"You don't say," Cole said squinting his eyes menacingly. Jay and Cole proceeded to go at each other's throats while Lloyd continued to talk to Neuro.

"We wanted you to help, Neuro, not make things worse," The Green Ninja said.

"But why would I help? You're competition. The sooner you're out, the better for me."

"If you want what's best for you, just look into my head and you'll see what this tournament is all about." Neuro did so with a shocked expression on his face as he saw what happened to the first man down. "It's only a matter of time before Chen steals your power too," Lloyd said. "So, are you in?"

He agreed to help the ninja based on what he had just seen, and the two other ninjas were dragged away to go prepare for the fight.

{First Person POV}

Inside the arena, I snuck by Cole's training area. He was there with a punching bag with the blue ninja's face on it, preparing for the fight.

"Psst, Cole!" I whisper yelled.

He turned around sharply. "(Y/n)? What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to see how it went with Neuro," I explained.

"We don't know yet, he still hasn't come back with any information," he looked down in disappointment.

"Oh, Cole. I'm... sorry," I said through the bars. He opened his mouth to respond when Lloyd walked over.

"Oh, um, hey. I'm (Y/n)," I said to him.

"I know," Lloyd said back.

"Um, I'll let you get back to preparing. And for what it's worth, thank you for being nice to me during all this," I told the ninja in black. He broke a small smile.

"Thank you for the tea," he said. I smiled at him and took my leave, crossing my fingers they somehow found a way out of this.
